It would appear that Law & Order: SVU (Special Victims Unit) star Mariska Hargitay can’t catch a break this summer.
We all know and love Mariska Hargitay for her breakthrough role as Olivia Benson on the popular NBC series. She has been starring in Law & Order: SVU since 1999 and has received several accolades for her performances. Some of those awards include a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award.
And while the stars have aligned for Hargitay to become one of television’s biggest stars, she hasn’t been so lucky off the screen. As a matter of fact, the 57-year-old actress has had to battle through a multitude of injuries, the latest of which occurred over the July 4th weekend.
Hargitay took to social media to let her fans and followers know that she had suffered another injury. Although she hasn’t yet explained what happened to her, it appears that she sustained some kind of major ankle or lower leg injury. She posted a photo that shows one of her feet heavily wrapped in bandages.
“My summer look. #breakingnews #specialankleunit #castandcrew #cantcatchabreak #captaincrutch #crackingthecase #wrapparty #castparty #summerbummer #prettyinpink #agonyofdefeet #calledabus #theselittlepiggieswenttotheER #ouch”
Law & Order: SVU fans were surprised to see Hargitay with another foot injury after she had just recovered from one not too long ago. Some wanted to know what happened to the star actress this time while others just left a get well soon message.
“MISS MAAM AGAIN?!” one follower questioned.
“Such a summer bummer,” another fan wrote.
“Get better soon, ❤️” an Instagram user said.
‘Law & Order SVU’ Star Suffers Another Major Injury
Mariska Hargitay’s latest injury announcement comes on the heels of her having just recently suffered another severe leg injury. The Law & Order SVU star went to the hospital back in late May after breaking her knee, her ankle, and tearing a ligament.
“#ThatFeelingWhen, you go to the doctor, get an MRI and find out that you have a broken knee, a hairline fracture in your ankle, and a torn ligament. It’s always a good idea to go to the doctor. Immediately,” Hargitay wrote in a previous Instagram post.
However, Hargitay says that her injuries will not require her to have surgery and that the injuries were not show-related.
“Great news is I don’t need surgery,” she continued. “Thanks for all the love folks! Just so you know this did not happen at work!”
Thankfully, neither of Mariska Hargitay’s recent injuries will delay the rest of the season. The cast and crew for Law & Order SVU have already wrapped up filming for Season 22. Filming for Season 23 was scheduled for this summer, so we will have to wait and see if her extensive injuries cause filming to be pushed back.
