Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay just posted a beautiful photo of herself headed to the US Open Finals. The actress, who has played Olivia Benson for over two decades, has been posting photos of her time at the US Open, and as the games ended, she went out with a fantastic look.
“Was headed to the @usopen finals #TennisFan#NeckMess #Necklaces and did you spy that ballerina heart charm? It was on my mamas charm bracelet has my name and DOB on the back #BirthCharm#BallerinaHoldingAPearl,” the actress wrote in the caption.
Hargitay also attended the US open with her former Law & Order: SVU co-star Christopher Meloni. Meloni played Elliot Stabler on the hit series until leaving the show following a contract dispute almost a decade ago. Now, however, Meloni is back in the Law & Order universe. He now stars in Law & Order: Organized Crime.
The two shows frequently crossover, and Meloni and Hargitay have plenty of fun both on and off set. Both of their shows are coming back to TV very soon. Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime will air back to back starting on Thursday, September 23rd. It should definitely be an action-packed fall.
However, some fans aren’t happy about a recent announcement that two of Hargitay’s co-stars won’t be returning to the show.
Two ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Stars Won’t Be Coming Back for Season 23
In a shocking announcement made earlier this month, it was revealed that Deputy Chief Christian Garland actor Demore Barnes and Kat actress Jamie Gray Hyder would not return to the series. They’ll be in the season premiere, but that’s it. This outraged many fans, who absolutely love these characters.
Hyder posted about her departure on Instagram. She made it clear that it was not her decision to leave the show.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I confirm Kat’s departure from the squad room. The decision was made above my paygrade. It wouldn’t have been my choice, but hey – That’s showbiz for ya,” she wrote. “Thank you to the SVUniverse for welcoming me with open arms. It’s been an experience that I have grown from greatly, and will never forget.”
According to the Deadline article that broke the news, the reason the two actors are leaving will be revealed during the season premiere episodes.
The premiere episodes will also follow the team as they solve one of their most high-profile cases yet. Apparently, Benson’s loyalties will be put to the test as they trace a sex trafficking case all the way up to a member of congress.
While it’s frustrating for fans to see loved characters leave, it’s even more frustrating because it doesn’t make much sense yet. For now, fans can only wait until premiere night for answers.
