‘Law & Order: SVU’: Nick Amaro Actor Danny Pino is ‘Back in the Squad Room’ in New On-Set Pic

Nick Amaro is back with his Law and Order: SVU squad…and it’s so, so exciting!

Thankfully, Danny Pino, the actor who plays former Law and Order: SVU detective Nick Amaro gave us a glimpse of what this looks like – because it’s going to be very hard to wait for the October 21 premiere of the episode!

On Tuesday evening, actor Danny Pino shared a photo of himself and members of SVU’s “elite squad:” “Fin” Tutuola (Ice T), Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), and Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish).

Nothing But Love For the SVU

“Back in the squad room with @Mariska@KelliGiddish@FINALLEVEL for the 500th episode of @lawandordertv,” Danny Pino said in the Tuesday night tweet.

“Nothing but love and respect for this cast and crew,” the actor adds.

Law and Order: SVU showrunners announced at the start of the hit NBC detective drama’s twenty-third season that Danny Pino’s Detective Nick Amaro would be returning to the SVU squad room.

Of course, a reappearance of Nick Amaro is reason enough for celebration.

However, this guest-star role is a little extra special. It will take place during Law and Order: SVU’s 500th episode.

That’s right…the long-running NBC drama is nearing episode 500.

Something New For ‘Law and Order’ Fans

Shortly after show-runners released the exciting news, Danny Pino hopped onto Twitter posting “So…anything new #SVUdiehards?”

Danny Pino was a Law and Order: SVU series regular from season thirteen until season sixteen.

The character left the show when he made move to California. Amaro made this move to be closer to his kids after an injury slowed him down on the force.

As of now, there is little information released yet as to why Danny Pino’s detective Amaro is returning to the Law and Order: SVU squad room.

Of course, we all hope Amaro’s New York City return is for a visit of some sort. And, that it’s not completely work-related.

But…it would be nice to see Olivia Benson back on the job with her former partner – if even for a little bit.

Will Amaro Cross Paths With Stabler?

That brings us to another interesting scenario. Does Nick Amaro’s return to the Law and Order: SVU mean that he and Olivia Benson’s original partner, Elliot Stabler might finally cross paths?!

Sure, Elliot Stabler hasn’t returned to the Law and Order: SVU, and he is well-established within the Law and Order: Organized Crime unit.

However, there have been plenty of crossover moments where Benson and Elliot meet. Maybe Nick will be a part of one of these?

It would stand to reason that this is a real possibility. After all, it is the Law and Order: SVU 500th…anything could happen!
