Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay is celebrating her 17th anniversary with her husband, Peter Hermann. She just posted a pair of beach selfies to celebrate the moment, and the two look like they’re having a fantastic time. Mariska Hargitay has starred in Law & Order: SVU as Olivia Benson since 1999. In 2004, she married her husband Peter Hermann. The two have three children.

The first picture she shared simply says “17” and shows the two enjoying the sunshine.

The other photo she posted is a closeup of the two with no caption at all.

Hermann is also an actor. He actually had a role on Law & Order: SVU, playing Trevor Langan. He’s also been on Philomena, The Edge of Darkness, and Trouble with The Curve.

Mariska Hargitay Wanted to Wait Until She Was 40 To Get Married

Mariska Hargitay waited until she was 40 to get married. The actress wanted to make sure she prioritized other parts of her life before settling down. It seems that wait paid off for Hargitay, as she’s now been with Hermann for almost two decades.

“Everyone was getting married in their 20s or 30s, but in my mind, I knew I had to figure out what I was doing in my life,” the Law & Order: SVU star explained to Parade in 2019. “I didn’t want anyone to shape me, and I knew that I had my own path to walk. Not to say I wasn’t sad or impatient.”

Now, she’s happily married with three children. They had a biological son together and then adopted their two others, Amaya and Andrew.

Mariska Hargitay now has a massive handful in balancing the harsh work hours that coming with filming TV and her own family life. According to an interview with Good Housekeeping in 2012, the actress loves when she gets a date night with her husband without the kids.

“We sit there in the movie theater before the movie starts and say, ‘Wow! We’re at the movies without kids!’ about 50 times to each other,” she joked. “People look at us like we’re weird.”

‘Law & Order: SVU’ Returns Next Month

She’s clearly managed to find some kind of balance because she’s still very much the star of Law & Order: SVU. If you want to catch season 23 of the hit series, which will feature a monumental 500th episode, you can tune into NBC on Thursday Nights starting September 23rd.

Law & Order: SVU will also air back to back with Law & Order: Organized Crime. Organized Crime stars Elliot Stabler actor and former SVU star Chris Meloni, and the two shows have frequent crossover events.
