‘Law & Order: SVU’ Star Mariska Hargitay Shares Custom Artwork Featuring Her Boot and Crutches after Recent Injury

Taking time away from the set of her hit CBS series Law & Order: SUV, Mariska Hargitay shared on Instagram a snapshot of her custom artwork, which features her boot and crutches from a recent injury.

“That feeling when you come home to a surprise box of goodness made by your unbelievably sweet, thoughtful and incredibly talented friend @darcymiller,” the Law & Order: SUV star captions the post.

As previously reported, Mariska Hargitay broke her ankle while attending the Hamptons screening of Black Widow. Sources close to Hargitay told Page Six the Law & Order: SVU leading lady spent a few hours in the hospital and missed the screening’s afterparty.

An insider of the situation also told the media outlet, “Mariska was rushing to leave the screening to welcome guests to her home and took a tumble on the slick rainy street outside the movie theater. She was taken to Southampton Hospital by ambulance with her husband, Peta Hermann.”

The inside source also confirmed that rather than worrying about herself, the Law & Order star was actually more concerned that everything had gone well and that everyone had a good time at the party.”

The latest injury comes just a couple of months after the Law & Order: SVU beauty shared that she suffered from a broken knee along with a hairline fracture in her ankle and torn ligament.

Mariska Hargitay Opens Up About She Researched About Sexual Assault for Her ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Role

In a September 2019 interview with Bust, Mariska Hargitay opened up about Law & Order: SVU and how she got into the Olivia Benson role.

Mariska states that in order for her into leading lady role, she decided she needed to educate herself about sexual assault. “I joined the Board of [the victim services nonprofit] Safe Horizon, and I joined [the Sexual Assault ad Violence Intervention program]. I became a rape crisis counselor.”

Hargitay also shares that she joined all the organizations that were already doing the work and asking them to help her with the Law & Order: SVU role. “I felt like I needed to build out a response with some structure where I could actually do something,” Hargitay recalls. “Because [acting on] the show is one thing, but how do we change all of this? My idea was to put the smartest people together and start a think tank.”

Hargitay also states that when Law & Order: SVU first started, no one really talked about sexual assault. “It was swept under the carpet. People were writing me letters because they weren’t being believed.”

She then adds that over the past two decades brave women and men have come forward and told their stories. “It’s been a symphony of change and all these cracks. And with the cracks, all this light has come through.”
