Who knew that “Law & Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay was a budding astrologist? The actress took to Instagram yesterday to share a snapshot of last night’s gorgeous full moon.
Surprisingly, Hargitay was right. Last night’s full moon entered into Aquarius, a sign best known for being the “least emotional of all the 12 signs of the zodiac,” according to Bustle. Bustle also shared that this means we should “embrace our individuality and reflect on our emotional responses in unconventional ways.” Essentially, we’ll have to “observe our emotions through an objective lens.”
While Hargitay called it an “Aquarius” moon, most people referred to last night’s experience as a “Buck Moon.” According to CBS News, each month has a different name for the full moon based on traditional Native American customs. July’s Buck Moon comes from the fact that this is the time of year when buck deer start to grow their antlers.
CBS also shared that last night’s moon normally wouldn’t be this orange/red color. But the wildfires happening out West are causing a smoky haze to drift across the country. This turns the normally pale moon into a more fiery color.
The best time to catch the moon was, unfortunately, last night. The “Law & Order” actress seemed to photograph it at just the right time. But if the skies are clear tonight, there’s a chance you can catch it again around 8 p.m. ET.
What Does Mariska Hargitay’s Future Look Like With ‘Law & Order: SVU’?
Mariska Hargitay will return for the upcoming Season 23 premiere of “Law & Order: SVU” as Oliva Benson. But just how much longer will Hargitay stay on the show?
She’s talked in the past about leaving the show before, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “The show is challenging, it’s exhausting, it’s a marathon. And there are hard days and there are days when I’m like, ‘You know what? I might be done. I’m so tired, I can’t see straight.'”
But that day hasn’t come yet. “When I’m done, I’ll know it. When I’m like, ‘OK, there’s no more to mine here and now I’m phoning it in and I’ve got to go.’ But I’m not yet.”
Other fans speculate that Hargitay might just shift over to Chris Meloni’s new show, “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” Hargitay’s character Benson and Meloni’s character Stabler built up a lot of chemistry over the first ten seasons of the show that never got resolved. After reuniting in one of last season’s episodes, fans wonder if that arc will finally end with Benson leaving “SVU” only to join Stabler in “Organized Crime.”
You can catch the upcoming season of “Law & Order: SVU” on Thursday, September 23rd on NBC.
