‘Law & Order: SVU’ Star Updates Fans on Leg Injury, Posts Pic of Large Cast

“Law & Order: SVU” icon, Mariska Hargitay, is still taking it easy and resting after a pretty nasty leg injury.

She’s once again giving her fans an update on exactly what’s going on regarding her injury. From the looks of it, the actress is getting a little bored. She wrote on Instagram today, “Greetings Slow day here at the office.. view is getting a bit monotonous ……. #ExceptForTheWallpaper But I’m feeling happy and grateful. #LaidUp #LegSupport #ALegUp.”

Also featured is a snapshot of her leg in a huge cast and propped up on a specialty pillow.

As it turns out, like millions of other people, Hargitay may have been a little too eager at the premiere of Marvel’s “Black Widow” movie last Friday. The highly anticipated Scarlett Johansson movie is coming to theaters on July 9. However, the “Law & Order: SVU” star was watching a special screening at the Cinema Society screening in the Hamptons. While at the event she fell and broke her ankle.

Hargitay was rushed to Southampton Hospital.

The bad news is Hargitay was already being treated for several other injuries to her leg and ankle less than a month ago. She had a hairline fracture in her ankle, a torn ligament, and a broken knee. She didn’t need surgery for any of those injuries and was clear that it was not caused by any work while on “Law & Order: SVU.”

Mariska Hargitay Future with ‘Law & Order: SVU’

When it comes to leg and ankle injuries, Mariska Hargitay can’t catch a break — that is unless it’s to break her ankle.

Apparently, Hargitay’s injury caused her to miss her own after-party. “Mariska was rushing to leave the screening to welcome guests to her home, and took a tumble on the slick rainy street outside the movie theatre,” a source said to Page Six. She’s being optimistic about the situation and is even calling her new cast “my summer look” on social media.

Hopefully, her injuries won’t impact her future with “Law & Order: SVU.” The crime show is the longest-running primetime live-action show on TV ever and Mariska Hargitay is the longest-running character ever. The show will return for the 23rd season.

According to Good Housekeeping, the show had a three-year renewal back in 2020. This means that there will also be a season 24. The show is expected to premiere in September and run until mid-May of 2022. Hargitay is signing her contract on a year-by-year basis now. This means she could walk away at any point but hasn’t given any clues that she’s ready to do so.

Especially considering the hype and excitement both her and fans had when Christopher Meloni returned to the franchise, Hargitay likely wants to stick around for a bit.
