While it might sound brutal, Ice-T was happy Christopher Meloni chose to leave the “Law & Order: SVU” series. The two are on good terms and it ultimately boils down to a colleague supporting a colleague or a friend supporting a friend.

By the time Christopher Meloni left the show ‘Law & Order: SVU,’ the cast had already spent 12 full seasons working together day in and day out. When asked about Christopher Meloni’s absence, Ice-T provided HollywoodLife with a lengthy answer.

“The cool thing is me and Chris are friends. So 12 years ago when he left to do his thing, I was 100 percent behind Chris’ moves,” Ice-T said. “Like I’ve said, a lot of people don’t get into acting to play one part for 20 years, you know? It’s like me only singing one song at the concert every year. So he went off to do his thing. He did movies. He had his own show. Now he’s back and in a good place. Chris is a great person. He’s fun. We’re very similar. You got two alpha males, you know what I’m saying? So me and him understand each other. Mariska loves to see him back. You guys are gonna love the episodes that we’ve done so far. I’ve shot a couple of episodes with Chris, so he crosses over back and forth a couple of times.”

Post ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Christopher Meloni

Christopher Meloni ultimately left the show due to personal and health-related concerns. As previously reported, Meloni described himself as “tightly wound” from the experience and needed to focus on other things. It seems his work paid off with his most recent interview and photoshoot with Men’s Health going completely viral. Whether it’s the rock-solid gluteus maximus that roped people in or his sly charm, Meloni does not have a shortage of admirers.

The star took a moment to reflect on his success: “The aspect of age comes into play as far as the cover of [this magazine] and how I feel about it. A friend of mine said, ‘Did you ever think in a million years you’d be on the cover of Men’s Health?’ I said, ‘Certainly not at age 60.’ ”

Now that he is in a better place mentally, the star is happily involved with an SVU spin-off, “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”

‘Law & Order’ Set Prank Gone Wrong

Good Housekeeping reported on a recent dud of a prank involving Christopher Meloni and his castmates on set. Co-stars Ainsley Seiger and Danielle Mone Truitt thought it would be funny to time how long it would take Meloni to notice Ainsley was wearing earrings modeled after his famed neon attire from a recent photoshoot that took the internet by storm.

The problem is, Christopher Meloni just did not notice the quirky accessory and thus the prank was ruined. The earrings and timer can be seen in Danielle’s tweet.
