Lisa Marie Presley Gave Elvis One Final Gift: Present Secretly Hidden in His Coffin

As a way to say one final goodbye to her father, Lisa Marie Presley hid a secret surprise in her father’s casket.

Elvis Presley’s only child was just nine-years-old when her father passed away on August 16th, 1977, at just 42 years old.

As one of the world’s biggest superstars, Presley’s death shocked small towns all across the nation. As a result, fans of The King rushed to the Graceland estate for his viewing.

Lisa Marie Presley’s Precious Goodbye With Her Father

Elvis’ father, Vernon, insisted that his son wanted to give fans a public viewing as a way to say goodbye to their pop idol, even though others thought it inappropriate. Hundreds of fans gathered outside the Presley estate, hoping to catch one final glimpse of the late pop legend. Those in attendance that day say the line to see Elvis was over a mile long.

Robert Kendall, the funeral director, said that little Lisa Marie asked him if she could give her father a gift. “Mister Kendall, can I give this to my daddy,” she said.

In her tiny hand, Marie held a thin metal bangle bracelet she wanted to give her father. As the crowd grew outside the home, both Kendall and Priscilla Presley were afraid someone might take the bracelet as a souvenir.

As a result, Kendall agreed to let little Lisa give the gift but required that she hide the bracelet.

Since the family was going to include public viewing, Priscilla told Lisa the bracelet had to be out of view to prevent someone from stealing it.

After they concealed the jewelry, Lisa and Priscilla invited the public to say goodbye to Elvis for the last time. Those at the event estimated that over 30,000 people came through the Graceland home to pay tribute to The King.
