Like a true, loving mama, Lisa Marie Presley dedicated an entire song and music video to her son Benjamin Keough.
Lisa Marie Presley wrote “Storm and Grace” about the love she has for her son. During the song, she sings, “You are the most beautiful man that I’ve ever known. Too much to offer and too much held close to the bone. Just step on the breaks there. You got what it takes. You blow me away, yeah. Your storm and your grace. My heart can’t seem to take it. Your storm and your grace.”
Presley also released a music video for the song that features photos of Benjamin performing. At the end of the song, Presley includes a clip of her talking about her son on The Talk. She says, “He loves music, but that’s a lot to put on him. I’m trying to let him do his thing without pushing that on him. I want him to come to something on his own.”
The song was the title track for Presley’s 2012 album, Storm & Grace. It was her first album in seven years, since the release of Now What. During an interview, she talked about her process for creating the album.
“Just over two years ago, I went to England to attempt to write another record after finding myself in a considerably disheartened and uninspired state creatively. Over an 8-month period, I wrote 30 songs,” said Presley. “Nothing was planned or contrived in any way, and out of it came a very organic record that was always inside of me and that I am incredibly proud of.”
Lisa Marie Presley Mourns The Passing Of Her Son
At only 27 years old, Benjamin took his life on July 12, 2020. The suicide came after an argument with his girlfriend, Diana Pinto, which was caught on surveillance video. According to the LA County Coroner’s office, both cocaine and alcohol were in Ben’s system at the time. He had tried to take his life six months prior but was unsuccessful and spent three weeks in rehab recovering. This was also his third time attempting rehab. However, he never fully completed a treatment.
In a Facebook post, Priscilla Presley shared that the entire family is mourning the loss. Ben has three sisters, Riley Keough, Finley Aaron Love Lockwood, and Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood. Priscilla wrote, “These are some of the darkest days of my family’s life. The shock of losing Ben has been devastating. Trying to put all the pieces together of all the possible whys has penetrated my soul. Each day I wake up I pray it will get better. Then, I think of my daughter and the pain she is going through as she was a doting mother. Ben’s father, Danny, who is completely lost, as Ben was his only son. Riley, so loving and so close to him; Harper and Finley, who absolutely adored Ben. Navarone, who struggles deeply with loss and death. Rest In Peace Ben, you were loved.”
