Lucie Arnaz, daughter of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, is speaking out on Nicole Kidman’s casting as her mother. This comes on the heels of the recent announcement of the movie’s cast.

Reports earlier this month shared that Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are being tapped to play the Ricardos. However, fans are not happy with the casting choice of Kidman. Critics think that Lucy-look-alike, Debra Messing would do the role better justice.

The movie, “Being the Ricardos,” will focus on one of the most iconic couples to ever grace the TV screen, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Aaron Sorkin is directing the film.

However, Lucie is sticking up for the casting team and defending their selection on choosing Nicole Kidman. She even shares a video on Facebook. Lucie has a “little chat” about the news, or “leak” as she calls it, Fox News reports.

“It’s a done deal,” Lucie starts with, “but the contracts aren’t actually signed which is why I haven’t said anything publicly about it.” She hopes to “calm the waters” here.

“There seems to be a lot of discussion about ‘Nicole Kidman, it should be Debra Messing, it should be Carole Cook,’ I don’t know,” she says. “Here’s the deal, what you should understand: We are not doing a remake of ‘I Love Lucy.’ No one has to impersonate Lucy Ricardo nor do the Vitameatavegamin routine or … any of the silly things.”

Lucie continues, “It’s the story of Lucille Ball, my actual mother, not Lucy Ricardo and her husband Desi Arnaz, my dad, not Ricky Ricardo.”

Additionally, the actress says the film will be funny. However, it will put more focus on Ball and Arnaz’s relationship.

The daughter of the iconic couple also mentions that “Being the Ricardos” isn’t going to be her parents’ “whole story.” As a matter of fact, it’s not “a biopic from cradle to grave.”

Of course, the TV show “I Love Lucy” will be featured in the film. Lucie says, “I don’t think you will be disappointed” with how it will play out.”

The actress states, “Just trust us. It’s gonna be a nice film. And P.S. The voting is over.”
