Sometimes referred to as the Queen of Comedy, Lucille Ball was an absolute trailblazer in the entertainment business.

She was the iconic star of the hit TV sitcoms “I Love Lucy,” “Here’s Lucy,” and “Life with Lucy,” amongst other starring roles. During her outstanding career, Ball was nominated for 13 Primetime Emmy Awards and won five times.

She was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame, was given a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kennedy Center Honors, and has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Lucille Ball helped pave an all-new path for women in the entertainment world. In addition to her acting, Ball was also the owner of Desilu Productions. She was the first female to be the head of a major Hollywood studio, which was a massive accomplishment.

Even today, Ball remains as relevant as ever. Nicole Kidman is starring in a drama as the famous actress called “Being the Ricardos.” Amy Poehler is creating a documentary about the hilarious comedian. Also, Sirius XM has a podcast dedicated to an old radio show Lucille Ball used to do.

The world is as obsessed with Lucille Ball as they were back in the 1950s.

Lucille Ball on Her Success

Her fame has extended decades and decades. All the while, the “I Love Lucy” star always tried to stay as humble as possible. She said in an interview on “The Dick Cavett Show” just how much she loved getting to do anything in the entertainment world.

“I was so grateful to be any part of the business that I was unaware of anything else. I was a part of it, I didn’t care what I did. They never had to ask me twice to do anything … I love being a part of it. I’m getting an award Thursday night that is probably the biggest thrill that anyone could have,” Ball said during the interview.

Despite awards and the money, Ball really just wanted to make a substantial difference in the world. It can definitely be extensively argued that she did in fact do this.

“To be recognized as someone who really contributed, that’s important to me,” Ball also said.

Lucille Ball worked incredibly hard to get her fame and success. She was once quoted saying, “I don’t know anything about luck. I’ve never banked on it, and I’m afraid of people who do. Luck to me is something else: hard work and realizing what is opportunity and what isn’t.”

From producing to acting to public appearances to inspiring a future generation, Lucille Ball was a massive, yet humble, successful star.

She was also once quoted saying, “I’m not sure that I want to be without some lack of confidence. If you are too sure of yourself, you don’t grow. You may feel confident in some things, but other fields come up as a challenge. And if you don’t anticipate trouble, you will be in trouble.”

So, Ball was confident, but never too confident. She was always open to learning new things and basking in new opportunities.
