Madonna has had enough with cancel culture, and she’s calling on her fellow celebrities to stop the trend.

Cancel culture has become an ongoing trend in our current culture. When someone, particularly singers, actors, or politicians, gives an opinion that goes against the norm, society stops supporting the person. In other words, they’re canceled.

In a recent interview with V magazine, Grammy-winning songstress Madonna weighed in on the cancel culture trend that’s taking over social media these days. And she said that silencing opinions is dangerous. So it needs to stop.

While chatting in the interview with playwright Jeremy O. Harris, Madonna mentioned that society has become very polarized in recent years. She believes that some people hold on to their beliefs with such a dangerous fervor that other people are scared to voice an unpopular opinion. Because if they do, they may offend or anger someone else. So instead of starting a discussion, they stay silent to keep the peace.

“It’s interesting because peace is subjective,” the singer told Harris. “The way people think about the pandemic, for instance, that the vaccination is the only answer or the polarization of thinking you’re either on this side or the other. There’s no debate, there’s no discussion.”

So Madonna is asking everyone, especially celebrities, to end cancel culture. She thinks that it is fueling the ongoing censorship problem. And censorship is “frightening.” So everyone needs to stop going along with it. Instead, she hopes people begin to encourage open and honest discussions.

“That’s something I want to disturb,” she said. “I want to disturb the fact that we’re not encouraged to discuss it. I believe that our job [as artists] is to disturb the status quo. The censoring that’s going on in the world right now, that’s pretty frightening. No one’s allowed to speak their mind right now. No one’s allowed to say what they really think about things for fear of being canceled, cancel culture. In cancel culture, disturbing the peace is probably an act of treason.”

“The thing is the quieter you get, the more fearful you get, the more dangerous anything is,” she continued. “We’re giving it power by shutting the f— up completely.”

Like Madonna, Aaron Rodgers is Against Cancel Culture’

Last month, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made a comment that some people misinterpreted. And Rodgers almost became a victim of cancel culture.

But Rodgers refuses to give in. During an interview with the Pat McAfee Show, the NFL star said he’s not sorry for what he said stressed that PC culture is out of control.

“That is the state of our media and really our culture,” Rodgers said. “This woke, PC (politically correct) culture. There’s a PC, woke culture that exists and there’s a cancel culture at the same time. And it’s based on people’s own feelings of maybe [them being miserable] or a distaste for their own situations or life. Or just the enjoyment of holding other people down under their thumb.”
