As the ultimate outdoor-aficionado and survivalist, Bear Grylls has had some pretty stellar moments out in the middle of the wilderness.

He has shown his loyal viewers some of the most wicked and epic ways to survive out in the formidable wild. At the same time, Grylls has brought along some pretty iconic guests for the ride. He is the host of the show “Running Wild with Bear Grylls.”

During this series, Bear Grylls has a celebrity guest accompany him on an adventure. They partake in epic survival activities, such as eating obscure foods and grappling down a cliff.

Bear Grylls Meets President Barack Obama

One of his most memorable guests was President Barack Obama. Grylls recently posted about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on his Instagram.

“I often think how lucky I’ve been able to spend time with some of the greatest leaders and entertainers on the planet. To me though, the wild is always the real star. It is about sharing simple moments, seeing behind the curtain and in turn, gaining a unique snapshot in to some of the world’s most inspirational people. I’m so excited to share some of these moments with you in my upcoming biography Never Give Up. Out later this Autumn,” he wrote.

President Barack Obama was on the show with Grylls in 2015. The two trekked through the Alaskan wilderness together. The overall goal was to point out the effects of climate change happening in the area. The two talked about conservation, effectively reaching a really niche target audience that cares a lot about the topic.

There was even an ongoing petition for the president to drink his own urine, which is a staple part of the show. It didn’t happen, likely for a plethora of reasons. “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” has featured some pretty amazing guests like Channing Tatum, Zac Efron, Kate Winslet, Kate Hudson, and Michelle Rodriguez.

“I’m a big fan of his I think what he’s done with all the climate change stuff has been inspiring,” Bear Grylls said during a “Good Morning Britain” interview from 2016 regarding his time with the president. He also shared that President Obama gave him an invitation to bring his family to the Oval Office, which he did in fact do.

Brand New Netflix Interactive Special

As for Grylls’ current work, his interactive project with Netflix titled “You vs. Wild: Out Cold” is going to premiere on September 14. It is the third interactive project he’s done so far.

The special depends on the viewer’s choices and lasts anywhere from 25 to 45 minutes.

In this adventure, Grylls is in a plane crash and is suffering from amnesia. He must face harsh winter weather, dark tunnels, wildlife, and a mixture of other intense wilderness components.
