Like Mother, like daughter! Mariah Carey’s daughter, Monroe, is a spitting image of her pop icon mama in the OshKosh B’Gosh’s Back-to-School Campaign. This was notably the 10-year-old’s first modeling gig.

The kid’s fashion brand shared Monroe’s modeling image on Instagram. “Before they were icons, they were kids daring to imagine who they would become someday. To the next generation of icons: dream boldly and turn someday into today.”

The fashion brand also says that the “young Mariah Carey” is played by her daughter. Other kiddos modeled for popular figures throughout the years, including Muhammad Ali and Outkast.

Jeff Jenkins, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing at OshKosh B’gosh, spoke about the campaign in the clothing brand’s latest press release. “OshKosh has been a childhood staple for generations. As we look to the future, we want to celebrate these inspiring trailblazers with a nod to who they were before they were icons — aiming to encourage children everywhere to dream big as they head back to school.”

Monroe is the daughter of Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. She’s also the twin sister of Moroccan Scott Cannon. The singer spoke about her daughter’s modeling debut in a statement to People. “As a little girl, I was determined to realize my dreams. Now, as a mother, It brings me so much joy to see my children visualize and develop the dreams they hold in their own hearts.”

Mariah goes on to add that she and Monroe did the campaign because they both love the message of empowering kids to “dream boldly and blaze their own path.”

Mariah Carey Reveals How She Parents Her Twins

In an August 2019 interview with People, Mariah Carey reveals how her twins’ childhood is very much different than when she was a child.  “It’s hard, but I try to keep them grounded so they don’t think everything is just handed to them,” she explains.

Mariah Carey then says that when her kiddos ask for something she says, “You’re asking for something that costs $20.” She explains that when she was a kid, she didn’t have money just laying around. “So they have to appreciate those things.”

Mariah Carey chats about co-parenting with her ex-husband, Nick Cannon. “I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk.” Carey also describes the twins as being a lot but they give her a lot of love in return. “I wouldn’t be the same person without them.”

Mariah then concludes the interview by stating that the most important thing she can do for her children is to give them what she didn’t have: a chance to live in a safe and secure home surrounded by those who love and support them unconditionally.
