After the Wahlberg family matriarch passed away after a lengthy battle with dementia, her family took a moment to remember her. On Monday, Mark Wahlberg posted a sweet family photo after the loss of his mother, Alma Wahlberg, whom he announced Sunday passed away at 78.

The veteran actor took to his Instagram to share a heartfelt family photo. In the pic, 49-year-old Wahlberg is seated on the couch with his late mother. Surrounding them are Mark’s wife Rhea and their four teenage children — Ella, Michael, Brendan, and Grace.

“Miss you grandma,” he captioned the post, pairing it with a heart emoji. Fellow actor Mario Lopez made sure to share his support for his friend, commenting, “Prayers up!” His wife, Rhea responded to the tribute post with the prayer hands emoji.

Mark, the youngest of the nine Wahlberg brothers, captioned the post by simply writing, “My angel. Rest in peace.” In addition to Lopez, fellow actress Octavia Spencer, also sent her condolences. She wrote, “My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.”

His older brother, Donnie Wahlberg, also responded to the post by commenting a prayer hand, heart, and dove emoji. In addition, he also shared a tribute video to his mom on the same day.

“My mom Alma’s joy for life, love, and people — combined with a pride in her humble beginnings and refusal to forget where she came from — undoubtedly shaped me into the man that I am,” the actor wrote. “I’ve often said, if you like anything about me, I got it from Alma. I say that because it’s true. She was, without a doubt, the most loving human being I’ve ever known.”

He also added how grateful he was for his upbringing. “Like so many moms who struggled, overcame odds, made something from nothing, and pulled off the impossible for their children, she never complained. She did what needed to be done, most often, with a smile. She made the best of times in the worst of times.”

His wife, Jenny McCarthy, also paid her respects via social media. She shared a photo of herself with blue hair and hugging Alma from the side in a sweet moment between the two. “To my sweet Alma,” the radio personality wrote in the caption. “I could not have asked for a better mother-in-law. Always kind, always made me feel loved and she will always be an inspiration to so many… Love you so much, Alma.”
