Even with four kids of their own, Mark Wahlberg and his wife, Rhea Durham, remind us of two teenagers in love. Wahlberg shows his love for her is still alive with an Instagram post that wishes her a happy birthday. Today, Durham turns 43 years old, proving that the couple doesn’t just act young but also looks young, too. Durham, like her husband, has filled her Instagram page with pictures of her with her loving husband. Since meeting in 2001, it seems 20 years later, the couple is still going strong.

Mark Wahlberg’s Troubled Past Before Meeting His Wife

When Mark Wahlberg actually was a teenager, his life looked quite different than what it is now. By age 13, he had a serious cocaine addiction. As the years passed, he started selling drugs and stealing cars in a rundown district of Boston.

“At 12 I was climbing out of the window and staying out all night and by the time I was 13 or 14 I stopped going to school,” Wahlberg told The Sun. “My older brothers taught me how to get high when I was ten and gave me a couple of beers. A lot of my family is now in AA. But I don’t blame anybody. I was getting f***ed up every day and committing violent acts.”

Because he was the youngest of nine kids, Wahlberg felt the need to “impress the older guys.”

In fact, several of Mark Wahlberg’s siblings were just as troubled as him. When he spent 45 days in jail after assaulting a shopkeeper, he wasn’t the first Wahlberg to be behind bars.

“Three of my brothers had done time and my sister went to prison so many times I lost count,” Wahlberg shared. “Finally I was there, locked up with the kind of guys I’d always wanted to be like . . . and I realized it wasn’t what I wanted at all.”

Wahlberg Wasn’t Happy Until He Met Durham

Although Mark Wahlberg has his brother Donnie to thank for ending his career in crime, Wahlberg said his wife, Rhea Durham, showed him what true happiness looks like.

“I owe a lot to my wife. She has helped me become the man that I am and created a beautiful life for me and our children,” Wahlberg said. “I also knew that she loved me for who I am and that she was someone I could trust. Until I met her, I wasn’t ready to have a family.”

When he found Durham, he knew that their relationship would last.

“You need the right woman in your life and that feeling that you’re going to be together for a long time,” Wahlberg said. “That’s especially important if you’re going to have children. Rhea always wanted to be a mother. She had a job, but her mission in life was to be a mother and to be a wife.”

Because of Rhea’s mission, the Wahlbergs now have a happy and healthy family raised on solid morals and unconditional love.
