On Monday, Jeremy Renner’s new Paramount+ show, “Mayor of Kingstown,” dropped a short preview with a full trailer going up on Tuesday.

“Friday Night Lights” actor Kyle Chandler also stars in the series. “Yellowstone” director Taylor Sheridan, executive producer and co-creator Hugh Dillon, and “Training Day” director Antoine Fuqua are also behind the new show.

According to IMDb, the show revolves around the McLusky family of Kingstown, Mich. The family members are power brokers in a dying town where prisons are the primary industry. The show also tackles systematic racism, corruption, and inequality.

Deadline reported that Chandler plays Mitch McLusky, the older brother to Renner’s Mike McLusky. The website said Mitch McLusky is “a fixer both inside and outside the prison system.”

Renner and Sheridan previously teamed up for 2017 film “Wind River.” The movie also featured a few “Yellowstone” actors, including Kelsey Asbille and Gil Birmingham.

Jeremy Renner’s show will premiere on Nov. 14 on the Paramount+ network.

Renner Thrilled About New Show

The 50-year-old Renner said his new role is a complicated one.

“I am excited to dig into the complex and rough-around-the-edges character of Mike McLusky,” Renner said in a press release.

The forgotten prison system barely exists in society, and Jeremy Renner said McLusky works in a “flawed system of checks and balances.”

“Taylor has brought to life a layered and poignant universe that is not only incredibly intriguing but also more relevant than ever,” Renner said in the press release.

Acting stalwart Dianne Wiest (The Birdcage, Law & Order) joins the cast as Mike’s mother and a teacher at the town’s women’s prison.

“Yellowstone” alum Dillion, Pha’rez Lass (Claws), Derek Webster (NCIS: New Orleans), Taylor Handley (Bird Box), Tobi Bamtefa (The Girlfriend Experience), and Emma Laird round out the cast.

Handley will play Kyle McLusky, Mike McLusky’s younger brother. In the show, he serves as a police officer working to become a trooper.

Jeremy Renner’s Show Has Roots In Canada

Hamilton, Ontario, is the backdrop for the new series.

In The Hammer reported last week that executive producer Dillon grew up in the town and the show’s name is a nod to Kingston, Ontario. Kingston has the most extensive grouping of correctional facilities in any Canadian city. The Jeremy Renner show has also filmed at the former Kingston Penitentiary. It closed in 2013.

The show featured one Ontario town’s campground area in one June scene. Twin Spring Cottage Condo Community and Camping in Burford was quite the scene with fire trucks and police cars around vacant trailer homes during the shoot.

Trailer park owner Jonathan Weaver shared his experience with the show’s cast and producers. He seemed amazed by the amount of work that went into probably “three minutes of screen time.”

Weaver said the scene called for an explosion in the trailer park.

“They’ve made my park look worse, you know,” Weaver said. “They’re gonna blow up a meth lab, so I really don’t want to be associated with it. But I mean, they’re customers. Just like any other camper, everybody’s got their unique demands.”
