McKayla Maroney is continuing to move further and further away from an Olympic gymnastics career to one that highlights her beauty.
Once again, Maroney decided to share her latest look in a red dress, fitting for Valentine’s Day, on Instagram.
She readily admits that she has spent a lot of time in recent years away from the public eye. Maroney retired from active gymnastics competition in 2016.
She’s also been trying to piece together her own life while healing from the sexual abuse she suffered from former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nasser.
Maroney has gone through a lot of ups and downs in recent years. Yet she’s moving forward with her life, offering glimpses here and there to the public. This time, she is controlling the narrative about her life and what is going on.
McKayla Maroney Opens Up Through Social Media
More and more, McKayla Maroney is willingly sharing pictures of herself on social media. She now has 1.3 million followers on Instagram and maintains an active TikTok account too.
Maroney has used social media platforms in the past to connect with fans. She’s been most active on Instagram and, as the numbers indicate, has built up quite a following indeed.
But last Christmas, she just shared a single photo and her family didn’t like it. They told her that it made her “look uptight.”
Maroney wrote under that photo that she’d returned to her family home yet needed a change. This all took place after her father’s tragic death from a drug overdose.
“I have so much good in my life, but I’ve been pretty stressed out lately,” Maroney said. “In times of chaos, I think it’s a really good opportunity to practice how you react. Choosing peace, silencing your mind, and letting go of what you can’t control, and being realistic, and honest about what you can control.”
What has she been doing, especially during the pandemic? Well, Maroney now calls herself a singer and in March 2020 released her first single, “Wake Up Call.”
For McKayla Maroney, the sky is definitely the limit when it comes to her career and what she wants to do.
