While you may recognize Duane “Dog” Chapman as a bounty hunter and television star, he’s also a proud father of twelve children. Chances are you’ve seen a handful of them in public with Dog the Bounty Hunter or on his shows, but what about the others?
The Sun provides a brief blurb about the famed bounty hunter’s children. Having been married five times, he’s a father to 12. His first child, Christopher Michael Hecht, was actually a secret to him. He only learned about Christopher’s existence after the woman he was seeing as a teenager, Debbie White, committed suicide.
Dog the Bounty Hunter had two sons with his first ex-wife, La Fonda Sue Darnell. These two names will sound familiar, as they starred on his show: Duane Lee Chapman Jr. and Leland Blane Chapman. Duane’s second wife, Ann Tegnell, bore him three children. Zebadiah Chapman (who sadly died 30 days after being born), Wesley Chapman, and James Robert Chapman.
Barbara Katie Chapman, Dog’s first daughter, came from his third marriage to Lyssa Rae Brittain. Sadly, Barbara passed away in 2006 after a car wreck. Tucker Dee Chapman and Lyssa Rae Chapman also arrived later. A&E actually took Dog’s show off the air after Tucker sold a recording of him using a racial slur in 2007, so their relationship is likely strained.
Dog’s fourth wife, and the one we’ve seen the most of, was Beth Chapman. The two of them had Bonnie Joanne Chapman and Garry Chapman together. Dog actually adopted his final daughter, Cecily Barmore-Chapman, who was Beth’s daughter by her ex-husband.
Duane Chapman is currently married to Francie Frane. The two don’t share any children as of now, but that could very well change.
What Caused the Rift Between Duane Chapman’s Daughter Lyssa and Beth Chapman?
While Dog the Bounty Hunter has a good relationship with most of his children, that’s not the case with some. For instance, despite having a seemingly good relationship for years, tension between Dog’s late wife Beth Chapman and Lyssa created a rift between the father and daughter.
Though it’s difficult to discern how it began at a glance, The Sun provides context and a good timeline as to what happened. The feud began nearly a decade ago when Beth became upset Lyssa didn’t wish her well on Mother’s Day. Airing her grievances publicly on Twitter, it soon escalated. Additionally, Beth brought up the fact Lyssa didn’t invite her to her college graduation ceremony.
Speaking to The Hollywood Gossip, Lyssa gave her reasons for distancing herself from Beth. According to her, one of Dog’s friends had molested her. On top of that, the environment was one of conflict and frequent drug use. Lyssa said she wanted to distance herself from that, with Beth’s comments toward her only making things worse.
Dog reportedly didn’t invite Lyssa to his latest wedding either, suggesting the two still aren’t in a good place.
