Meghan McCain has a problem with the Met Gala. The former co-host on “The View” called out the glitzy fashion event.

She went on Twitter, according to a report from Fox News, and didn’t like celebrities spending so much money there.

McCain, who is the daughter of late Sen. John McCain, said, they were out of touch with Americans dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meghan McCain Suggested Celebs Donate Money Toward Workers, Food Banks

“Am I allowed to not care about the Met Gala?” McCain wrote. “I love fashion as much as the next woman but would have been pretty amazing if all those celebrities took the 35K it costs for a table and donated it to essential workers and food banks in the country. The time of excess seems dated.”

What did she suggest that they do? Well, Meghan McCain thinks those celebrities should donate that money to essential workers and food banks.

According to a New York Post article, individual tickets were $35,000 and tables started at $200,000. A brand name usually hosts stars and buys tables.

Twitter Followers Point Out Event For Charity, Agree With Criticism

Her Twitter followers pointed out that the Met Gala is a charity event that benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. Many, though, agreed with the Meghan McCain statement. They even criticized those who attended with progressive messages on their clothes.

Some also aimed their comments toward New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat. She walked the red carpet wearing a white dress with the words “TAX THE RICH” plastered on her back.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and actor Michael Rapaport dug into Ocasio-Cortez on social media.

Recently, Meghan McCain remembered her father on social media three years after he died. This heartbreaking post speaks volumes about the love she felt for the late Arizona Senator.

She also remembered him on his birthday, too, on Instagram

“Happy Birthday Dad – I love you!” McCain wrote. It has a photo of John McCain smiling while looking up from a newspaper.

Former Talk Show Co-Host Spoke Out About Her Lack of Popularity

Meghan McCain, in a 2019 interview with ELLE, talked about her lack of popularity on “The View.”

“The audience [of ‘The View’] boos me,” McCain said. “It’s a very liberal audience in the studio and they’re very vocal. People are always looking to turn you into something.”

Meghan McCain also said that the culture war’s “explosion” that happened under President Donald Trump turned her even more conservative.

“No Republican is good enough for a certain group of people,” she told ELLE.
