Mel Gibson has starred in numerous box-office movies throughout his nearly four-decade-long career. Although he’s devoted his life to acting in some of the world’s most well-known films, such as 1995’s Braveheart, he’s still been able to have a successful life off-screen.
When he’s not directing or acting in movies, he keeps busy with his nine children.
Starting with his eldest, Gibson welcomed his daughter, Hannah, in 1980, with his wife at the time, Robyn Moore Gibson. Like her father, Hannah has also worked in the film industry, working as a makeup artist on What Women Want and as a production assistant for The Patriot.
In 2006, she married blues musician Kenny Wayne Shepherd. According to her Instagram bio, she has six children, making Gibson a proud grandfather.
Following Hannah, Gibson and Robyn welcomed two twin boys in 1982, whom they named Edward and Christian. Today, Edward is very private and doesn’t share much about his life. He does own the furniture company Natural Edge, located in Los Angeles.
As for Christian, he chose to follow in his father’s footsteps in the film industry. He’s worked on Netflix’s Bird Box, Coyote, and his dad’s film Hacksaw Ridge. However, instead of working in front of the camera, he decided to stay behind it, working as a camera operator.
Mel and Robyn’s had their third son, William, in 1985. Like Edward, he also doesn’t reveal a lot of his private life on social media.
Louie Gibson came into the world in 1988 and thus became the couple’s fourth son. In his adult life, Louie has written, directed, and produced for TV and movies. According to his IMDb profile, the first feature film he wrote, edited, and led Happy Hunting in 2017. Louie also directed and wrote the upcoming movie Manifest West, which will also feature his younger brother Milo.

Milo also followed in his father’s footsteps and pursued acting. Besides acting in his brother’s upcoming movie, Milo made his acting debut in 2016 in his dad’s movie, Hacksaw Ridge. Milo also starred in the 2018 comedy Breaking & Exiting and the 2021 film Under The Stadium Lights.
The couples’ youngest child, Thomas, was born in 1999. Sadly, Mel and Robyn separated in 2006, and they later divorced in 2009 when Thomas was ten years old. Thomas keeps a low profile, and not much is known about him.
After their divorce, the director and actor welcomed a daughter with Russian singer-songwriter Oksana Grigorieva in 2009, whom they named Lucia. The couple separated in 2010. The couple reached a custody agreement, but Grigorieva requested Gibson pay her $500,000 in settlement money after breaking a confidentiality agreement.
In 2014, Mel Gibson began dating Rosalind Ross, 31. Even with a 30-year age difference, the couple welcomed a son, Lars Gerard, in 2017. Mel shared his first picture of his youngest child while at the Academy Awards, where Lars was dressed in a tuxedo.
