Mel Gibson is back in action! That’s right, the original action hero-turned drama actor and director – is returning to his roots in “Hot Seat.” He’ll star in the film along with Chad Michael Murray. After years of showcasing his versatility in other film genres, it’ll be interesting to see how Gibson approaches the role. Especially now that he’s not so young as he was during the “Lethal Weapon” franchise.

Production of the new film is set to begin November 1 in New Mexico, according to Deadline. Its premise is based around a hacker who breaks into a high-level banking system. The hacker then rigs a bomb beneath a chair of one of the workers. We imagine there’s some sort of reason the hacker is threatening the bank. Or perhaps wants a large sum of cash. Gibson will play the hero who has to navigate carefully breaking down the bomb before it goes off – and saving the man who’s sitting right over it.

The film is a Lionsgate production directed by James Cullen Bressack. It will be produced by Randall Emmett and George Furla. A release date isn’t set yet, however, it’s sure to be a great action-packed thriller.

Storied Film Career

Mel Gibson is most notable for his early work in action films. However, the movie star proved his variety with work like “Braveheart.”

For the role portraying Scottish rebel William Wallace, Gibson took home an Academy Award for best actor. The film also garnered critical acclaim and won Best Picture at the awards as well. Gibson proved he could navigate and excel in serious roles. He was also praised as a director after “Braveheart” was released.

Gibson went on to direct the controversial film “The Passion of the Christ.” As a deeply religious man, Gibson said the work was incredibly important to him. Gibson then turned to the psychological film genre when he embarked on two films with M. Night Shyamalan. Gibson brought both comedy and drama to his roles in “Signs” and “The Village.”

Mel Gibson Offers Religious Advice to Britney Spears

To anyone who’s followed Gibson’s career, it’s undeniable that he’s a very religious man. The actor has often spoken of his devotion to Christianity. He’s even offered advice to fellow celebrities.

According to Britney Spears’ once-trainer Sean Phillips, Gibson came to her home in 2008 ( a very rough year in the singer’s life) and offered his version of comfort to the star.

“I remember Mel Gibson was one of them,” Phillip said. “Telling [Britney Spears] that Christianity would save her and to turn back to God. It was all quite surreal.”

At the time, Britney Spears was struggling with a new conservatorship, custodial issues with children, fallout from a divorce with Kevin Federline and major media scrutiny.
