Meryl Streep Didn’t Know What Jonah Hill Meant By Calling Her the GOAT

Months after Jonah Hill referred to his Don’t Look Up co-star Meryl Streep as the GOAT (greatest of all time), the Hollywood icon admitted she didn’t exactly know what the actor meant.

While the duo was talking to the TODAY on Tuesday (December 7th), Hill recalled the GOAT conversation he had with Meryl Streep while on the film’s set. “I called her the GOAT – the greatest of all time,” Hill explained. Streep then stated, “I thought, ‘Why is he calling me a GOAT?’ And I sort of thought, ‘Well, you kind of look like a goat.’”

Meryl Streep also said she didn’t know what GOAT actually meant and she’s not up on things when it comes to new terms and slang. Hill further explained how the misunderstanding originated and how their Don’t Look Up co-star Jennifer Lawrence helped clear up the confusion.

“We were doing interviews. Obviously, everyone in the world respects Meryl more than anything in the world, myself included,” Hill declared. “And then Jen filled her in.”

Hill goes on to say that Meryl Streep said she believed he called her a goat and Lawrence replied, “No, it stands for greatest of all time.” Hill then stated, “It’s a massive compliment and not grotesque diss that I would never say anyway.”

Meryl Streep chimed in, “I just thought it was, I don’t know, a cute little thing.”

Hill added, “She’s the best.”

Don’t Look Up follows two low-level astronomers that must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth. Starring alongside Hill, Lawrence, and Streep in the upcoming Netflix film are Leonardo DiCaprio, Melanie Lynskey, and Timothée Chalamet.

Jennifer Lawrence Admitted She Was Worried About Annoying Meryl Streep on the Set of ‘Don’t Look Up’

According to Movie Web, Jennifer Lawrence admitted in a recent interview that she was actually worried about annoying Meryl Streep on the set of Don’t Look Up. “My biggest concern was I did not want to annoy Meryl Streep,” Lawrence declared. “That’s my worst nightmare. So, I will only speak if spoken to. And I will be the least annoying person in the room.”

Don’t Look Up director Adam McKay confirmed Lawrence’s take on trying to not annoy Meryl Streep. “[Jennifer Lawrence] kept saying, ‘I’m going to be quiet. I won’t speak.’ Meryl Streep shows ups and Jen comes over to me like she’s a 12-year-old and is like, ‘What do I say? What do I do?’”

Meryl Streep spoke about Lawrence by stating, “[Lawrence] is a bold and unselfconscious actress. Someone whose gift is alive on her skin and in her being. She spins it out of the air in the room.”
