Even though Mike Posner is best known for his music, he is getting recognition for something else too. Recently, the singer-songwriter did a massive excursion to a famous spot located between Tibet and Nepal.

He set his sights on climbing Mount Everest. There are only a handful of people in the world who have summited the incredible mountain. According to High Adventure Expeditions, there have been roughly 6,000 people to complete the trek.

Now, though, add Mike Posner to the list of people who have summited Mount Everest. It is a grueling climb, one that has seen over 300 people die trying to reach its peak. Nonetheless, the singer decided to undertake the climb.

More importantly, he did the expedition for a good cause. The singer-songwriter was doing the climb to raise money for charity. He and his corporate sponsors started a GoFundMe page for the journey. The money that he and his team raised through the page would go to The Detroit Justice Center (DJC).

The DJC is a non-profit law firm that works with communities to create more economic opportunities in Detroit. Additionally, the justice center also is working to change the justice system in the city. The DJC is also trying to set up a system that promoted equity and just cities around America.

Mike Posner Summited Mount Everest Early in the Morning for an Awesome Scene

On June first, Mike Posner was able to summit Everest at the crack of dawn. He was rewarded with a spectacular sunrise at the peak. He checked in at 4:35 a.m. from his base camp to tell people about the sunrise he had with his sherpas and companions.

“Now that’s what I call a sunrise,” he wrote on Twitter. “This was hard. I’m exhausted beyond any point of exhaustion I could’ve conceived of before. Taking some time for me, but [I] will share some more memories with you once I’ve had time to process it all.”

His Everest expedition took years of thoughtful planning. Even though he is a Grammy-nominated singer, he decided to put that on the back-burner. Instead, he spent much of 2020 preparing for the journey up Everest. In fact, he spent a lot of time doing altitude training in Colorado.

After he posted the video to his social media page, Mike Posner added that he hopes people can donate to the DJC. But, he added that he only hopes people can do so if they are financially able to.
