Our favorite Dirty Jobs star, Mike Rowe, is offering up his apologies to all of his fans out there who watched the video he posted after surgery.
“Let me offer my sincere and heartfelt thanks for your many kind words and well wishes here in the wake of my open septoplasty,” Rowe begins.
The TV personality doesn’t waste any time going into detail about how his doctor “rebuilt” his nose.
“This guy made an incision down here and a couple more incisions on the inside of each nostril,” the Dirty Jobs star explains. “He pulled my nose back and put my septum back where it belongs. He inserted two splints — one into each nostril — and sent me on my way.”
“I have since done some research and learned that over 40 percent of the people in this country are called ‘mouth breathers’,” Rowe continued. “They have the same problem I did — they couldn’t get air through their nose.”
To illustrate his point, Rowe takes two big, deep breaths through his nose. You can tell that he feels like a new man.
“Now, I’m breathing through each nostril for the first time in my life,” he said. “It’s transformative.”
Mike Rowe Offers Advice to Those Who Are Considering the Procedure
We already know what it’s like to see Mike Rowe performing some of America’s dirtiest jobs. So, we can lean on those memories when watching his latest video after nasal surgery. Trust us, there’s a reason Rowe apologies to his fans for posting it.
On one hand, it’s nice to see the behind-the-scenes footage of what a septoplasty looks like. But on the other, Rowe doesn’t leave out any of the real gritty details about the procedure.
In fact, Rowe shows a video of his doctor removing his nasal splints after having been in place for six days. And he doesn’t stop there — he also shows footage of his nose being “vacuumed” to clean out all of the blood and mucus. As he puts it himself, “You thought the COVID-19 test was bad?”
But in the end, Rowe admits that he is bullish on this particular procedure. In the footage he shows at the doctor’s office, Rowe gets his stints out fully and his nose completely cleaned out. Not long after, he is almost brought to tears after breathing through his nose for the first time.
“Oh my God,” Rowe exclaims. “That is unbelievable. I don’t even have words.”
Mike Rowe fans have been right there wishing him well during each step of his surgery. And that continued on with his latest post.
“OMG I was watching the video with my hands covering my eyes and peeking through my fingers,” one fan wrote. “Glad you can breathe now ❤️”
