Miley Cyrus Reveals The ‘Origin’ of the Famous Cyrus Family Mullet

The Cyrus family is known for a few things. They are known for their incredible music ability, being a little bit off their rocker, and an iconic mullet. Miley Cyrus joined Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to share when she decided to embrace the family tradition and cut her hair into the Cyrus mullet.

Quarantine was a weird time for everyone. Our waistbands got a little tighter, our couches saw more attention than they had in years, and our hair grew, and grew, and grew. As a result, haircuts became nothing to judge a person on as people got creative in their routines. Maybe you have gone back to the staple bowl cut, or you gave up altogether and shaved it completely off, or if you are anything like us, you embraced the growth and saw it as an issue for another time.

Miley Cyrus Reveals One Haircut Her Mother Knows How to Do

For a family like Miley Cyrus’s, they are trained in the art of haircutting. Not in all kinds of styles, but for one iconic look. Cyrus reveals how her mother gave her the family mullet during her quarantine in LA. You know the one — the look Billy Ray Cyrus still celebrates weekly with #MulletMonday, of course.

“All of us have had to adjust, you know. A lot of things shut down, keeping us from doing our kind of standard routines. Which one of them was going to get a haircut for me, and so my mom offered, you know, my bangs- I already had bangs, were getting long and she said ‘well, I can cut your hair, but I only know how to do one hairstyle, and I’ve been doing this since 1992 for your dad, and your brothers’ and all my mom can do is a mullet, so I had one option, and I needed it.”

Miley Cyrus explains how a mullet is something that “genetically” happens if you are a member of her family.

“You know, I think there is something genetically,” she explains. “Where it just kind of grows naturally shorter up top and longer in the back. That’s just kind of a natural shape that our hair grows in.”

Nothing quite explains the 28-year-old wild child as much as the old saying, ‘business in the front, party in the back.’
