Ready for Kevin Costner’s next brainchild, ABC’s outdoors drama “National Parks?” Leading the show is actor Billy Campbell. But where do we know Campbell from, and why does he look so familiar?

Get ready “Yellowstone” fans and fellow Outsiders, Kevin Costner is writing and producing a new American parks-centric drama, “National Parks!” Recently, Billy Campbell was confirmed as the show’s lead actor, and fans know they’ve seen his face before.

Right off the bat, 90s film fans should know Campbell as ‘The Rocketeer’ himself. Billed as Bill Campbell, the actor played the titular role of The Rocketeer/Cliff.

A decade on, Campbell would become best known for a previous ABC drama, “Once and Again.” Within, Billy played Rick Sammler for the show’s 199-2002 run. His work as Sammler would earn Campbell a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor.

Currently, “National Parks'”Campbell stars on the HULU series “Cardinal,” which won the actor Canadian Screen Awards for Best Actor two years in a row.

In addition, Campbell was co-lead in AMC’s critically-successful series, ‘The Killing.’

Outside of these prominent television roles, Billy Campbell has an extensive resume of small screen parts to his name. As for feature films, Campbell can be seen in “Ghost Town” with Ricky Gervais, “Enough” opposite Jennifer Lopez, and another 90s classic: Francis Ford Coppola’s “Bram Stoker’s Dracula.”

Who Will Billy Campbell Play in ‘National Parks’?

As for the Kevin Costner written and produced “National Parks,” Campbell will step into the role of Cal Foster. Foster will be a special agent investigating crimes within park jurisdiction. The character was previously a field agent, but will enter a supervisory position for “National Parks.”

ABC describes their upcoming Costner drama with the following synopsis: “While the national parks are known for their sweeping, beautiful landscapes, there is also a darker, more sinister side to these parks that attract a vast array of criminal activity. ‘National Parks’ will follow the small group of elite NPS agents as they solve these crimes while protecting these national treasures.”

Back in February, it was announced that Angel Parker of “Marvel’s Runaways” fame will star opposite Billy Campbell. For “National Parks,” Parker will play Ava Longridge, an Intelligence Analyst.

Parker holds a similarly extensive television resume to Campbell, with both having a history with ‘Parks’ network, ABC. ‘The Rookie’ and her “La Brea” pilot are Parker’s most notable ABC roles. In addition, she also appeared on FX’s “The Strain” and NBC’s “Trial & Error.”

ABC has yet to set a premiere date for “National Parks.” Once it hits, however, we’ll have it for you right here on Outsider.com.
