After playing her character Special Agent Eleanor Bishop on “NCIS” since 2013, Emily Wickersham is departing the popular crime series.

Just a few days after announcing that she’s leaving, Wickersham showed off some new ink on her Instagram account. The actress posted a photo of a small, thin-line, delicate tattoo of a lightning bolt that’s on the side of her foot.

The “Gone” and “NCIS” actress doesn’t seem to have any other visible tattoos. Wickersham posted a series of photos and a sweet message announcing her departure from the show three days ago.

“This cast, this crew, are top notch. I can’t say enough kind words about this group that I’ve had the pleasure of working with for close to 8 years now and 172 episodes later. This business is finicky and weird and consistency is a rarity. I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of a show where I got to show up and act and laugh and learn with wonderful people. A moment in time I surely won’t forget. Thank you CBS and NCIS for including me in a part of television history. Time goes fast. Eat it up but chew slowly,” Wickersham wrote.

Her character left the show for a mission and was not killed off. She purposely implicated herself in an NSA document leak. The goal was to then go undercover as a disgraced agent, but in reality, she’s off on a very long-term mission.

It’s unclear what the actress has in store for her career after departing her longtime role on “NCIS.” Perhaps she’ll start appearing in more movies or pick up a role on a TV series.

Two Favorite ‘NCIS’ Characters Kiss

Emily Wickersham’s departure from the show comes shortly after her character kissed another fan favorite.

Wickersham’s character, Ellie, has had a slow build-up toward a romantic relationship with Wilmer Valderrama’s character, Nick. The season finale finally gave fans the moment the show has been teasing for a bit. The two agents shared a kiss during the finale.

Unfortunately, it’s during the season finale and it’s the last episode Wickersham will appear in for the franchise. The romantic relationship was certainly a fleeting one. It’s unclear if she will ever return or not.

Earlier in the season, the two almost kissed as the elevator doors shut in front of them. It was a hilariously frustrating moment for fans of the show and the couple pairing.
