Former NCIS star Emily Wickersham just posted a cute new beach picture on her Instagram. Wickersham played Agent Ellie Bishop on the hit series but left the show earlier this year. The actress is now taking in the best that summer has to offer.

The black and white beach photo simply says “summer soul.” Not even the darker clouds can bring down her beach day.

Many fans are sharing their love for the actress, with some expressing that they wished she stayed on NCIS, but the actress felt that it was time to “hang her hat.”

Wickersham Left ‘NCIS’ With a Touching Goodbye Message

Wickersham officially confirmed she was leaving the series after its most recent finale. The finale saw agent Bishop leaving the NCIS team to go undercover. She gave Torres a final goodbye kiss before leaving for good, but the kiss was bittersweet.

Wickersham took to her Instagram page to confirm the suspicion that she would not return for NCIS season 19.

“Hangin this hat and jacket up. What a great ride it’s been. This cast, this crew, are top-notch. I can’t say enough kind words about this group that I’ve had the pleasure of working with for close to 8 years now and 172 episodes later,” she said. Wickersham didn’t join the series right at its start, but soon became an integral part of it. For that, she expressed tons of gratitude.

“This business is finicky and weird and consistency is a rarity. I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of a show where I got to show up and act and laugh and learn with wonderful people,” she wrote. “A moment in time I surely won’t forget.”

One of the many people to leave some support in the comments was Katrina Law, who is now joining NCIS.

Katrina Law and Gary Cole to Join the Cast

Katrina Law, who played Jessica Knight in the last few episodes of season 18, is becoming a full-time cast member following Emily Wickersham’s departure. And she’s not the only one coming on board. Gary Cole, whose been in The Good Wife and Office Space, is also joining the cast.

Not much is known about Gary Cole’s role, but it’s been cautioned that he’s not coming to replace Gibbs. It’s something fans are still worried about, however, considering leading actor Mark Harmon is taking a step back from the series this season amid rumors that he wanted to quit altogether before production talked him out of it.

Whatever the case is, both Law and Cole have impressive resumes and should bring some interesting new characters to the show.

NCIS will air on Monday, September 20th on CBS.
