Jennifer Esposito, a past “NCIS” cast member, recently took to Instagram to share a subtly sultry snap with her 142k followers. The star is glammed out with a full face of makeup but keeps her outfit simple with a solid pink sweater.
The insightful caption is what draws people in: “Must face it all to get to where you are meant to go. The good, the bad, the ugly, and the fear. You ready? Let’s go !”
A few of Esposito’s blue-check-marked friends also chimed in with their thoughts.
@steliosavante writes “Let’s Go!” @alicia_coppola challenges with “Oh it’s on.” @alain_rocben simply adds three emojis: 🔥👊🏽🔥
Fans jumped in with compliments about the star’s look and some even thanked her for the moment of inspiration.
Jennifer Esposito Talks Celiac Disease
It might be news to some fans that Jennifer Esposito is afflicted by Celiac Disease. Moreover, it’s the reason she lost out on certain acting roles in the past. For example, her time on “Blue Bloods” as Detective Jackie Curatola was cut short in 2012 during a particularly bad flare-up of the disease.
A medical leave was the reason for her quick departure in the middle of filming the third season.
Since then, Esposito has become somewhat of an authority on the issue. Writing a New York Times best-selling book on the matter and opening up a specialty gluten-free bakery in New York, Esposito stands out in the Celiac community as one of their biggest advocates.
The book’s official title is somewhat of a mouthful: Jennifer’s Way: My Journey with Celiac Disease — What Doctors Don’t Tell You and How You Can Learn to Live Again. It explores all things Celiac from getting a diagnosis to symptom relief tips, recipe suggestions, and even dating advice. Written as a memoir, it also details the ups and downs of Esposito’s career in entertainment.
A Stint in Psychiatric Care
In an interview with Oprah in the past, Esposito talked about just how dire her health was at one point. It took receiving several cues from costars, actually, for Esposito to finally seek medical help. However, getting help did not go as planned.
“I thought I was going to be checked in to the hospital, and they checked me in to the psych ward. And I’m thinking, ‘How did I get here? This is a problem with my system, this is not a problem with my brain.’ I was almost dead – my hair was falling out, my eyelashes fell off, my fingernails were falling off. I was bad.”
It was an alarming experience she hopes no one else ever has to experience. Since then, Jennifer Esposito is doing much better. She has learned what works for her body and what doesn’t– and she stays vocal about it. A true holistic advocate.
