Diona Reasonover admits she was a little nervous as stepped in to fill the shoes left by NCIS lab expert, Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette). However, Reasonover told TV Insider, her excitement coupled with the nervousness as she got used to her role.
“NCIS feels like a big family,” Diona Reasonover told TV Insider in the 2018 interview. She also added that she is delighted that the dedicated NCIS fans have welcomed her character as she joined the hit show at the end of the fifteenth season. “To be coming in as the new person in this dynamic is really hard,” she said.
The actress added that she’s grateful that NCIS fans have been open and generous to her addition to the cast. Diona Reasonover’s character, Kasie Hines stepped in as the new NCIS lab worker. Hines arrived after Abby Sciuto exited the show at the end of season 15.
Kasie Hines First Came to NCIS As An Assistant
Kasie was first introduced to NCIS fans as Ducky’s (David McCallum) graduate assistant. Ducky hires Kasie to help him as he continued to work on his planned book. However, when Ducky is called to join the NCIS team in a case, Kasie tags along and meets the team. Eventually, the assistant steps in to temporarily assist the NCIS team in the lab.
Kasie makes this move when Abby Sciuto decides it’s time for her to move on from her role at the NCIS At the start of the hit CBS show’s sixteenth season, Kasie Hines becomes a permanent character on NCIS.
Diona Reasonover Has Some Big Shoes to Fill With Pauley’s Departure
“I was really worried coming into a show that was already established,” Reasonover told TV Insider. “Fifteen years is a long time.”
Diona Reasonover started her acting career in theater. She earned rave reviews for her role in “HYPERBOLE: Origins.” Reasonover is also a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade improvisation group, Ham Radio.
Reasonover herself doesn’t have a lot of experience in the sciences to prepare her for playing Kasie. However, she told TV Insider that she has her own secret weapon to help answer her questions.
“My sister is a doctor so I’m lucky that I get to ask her questions,” Reasonover joked with the outlet. “She’s my secret weapon!”
