The eighteenth season finale of “NCIS” brought along with it some goodbyes to some major characters. As the final episode of the hit CBS show’s eighteenth season aired, both Jack Sloane (Maria Bello) and Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) made their final appearances.

As fans watched these characters say their final “farewells” on the hit show, a few questions were raised. Primarily, whether or not these exits will leave room for new characters in the upcoming season.

Well, even though the “NCIS” season nineteen premeire is quite a ways out, we are starting to get some answers.

According to a DEADLINE report, actor Gary Cole will be joining the cast when the hit show returns this fall.

It had been rumored for some time that the “Office Space” actor would be joining the team in the near future.

Cole Is Confirmed as a New “NCIS” Team Member

According to a June 16 article by TVInsider, rumors that Gary Cole would join the cast had been circulating for some time. The outlet reported that Cole was “in talks for a major” role in the hit series. Although, at the time there were no details about what role Cole would take on “NCIS.”

According to DEADLINE, details about Cole’s “NCIS” character, Special Agent Alden Park, are being held back at this point. Although, according to DEADLINE, his character is not going to replace Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) in the series. However, the outlet did report that his character will help “fill the void” that will be left as Harmon is expected to appear in only a few episodes in the upcoming season.

“The number of episodes Harmon will be doing in Season 19 has not been revealed,” DEADLINE reported. “They are believed to be just a handful.”

Gary Cole was most recently featured on the CBS series “The Good Fight.” Cole portrays Kurt McVeigh, husband to the show’s lead, Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) in the popular show. This was a role in which Gary Cole was first introduced in the show “The Good Wife.”
