NCIS: Hawai’i knows how to party.

The official Instagram account for the CBS show shared a photo from behind the scenes photo. The characters are seen enjoying a luau on the ranch.

“Who doesn’t love a good ranch luau?” they captioned the snapshot.

NCIS: Hawai’i director and executive producer Larry Teng knows just how important it is to make the show as authentic as possible. His goal is to stay true to the Hawaiian culture.

“Now that I’m back (in Hawaii), I feel like I have a responsibility to make sure that the community here, the people, the crew, that they’re all represented properly, you know?,” Teng told Daily Hawai’i.

The show had a traditional Hawaiian blessing before production kicked off. The first location took place at Mokueleia on the island of Oahu.

The show’s stars Vanessa Lachey, Noah Mills, Jason Antoon, Yasmine Al-Bustami, and Tori Anderson took part in it. Kahu Ramsay Taum officiated the ceremony which included royal maile leis, the Oli Aloha chant, and the Pule Ho’oku’u prayer.

‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Star Vanessa Lachey Moves to Hawai’i

The entire Lachey clan moved to Hawai’i after Vanessa got the role of Jane Tennant. Vanessa and Nick’s three children all enrolled in school, and for the first time, they’re all in the same school.

The couple shares their daughter Brooklyn, who is six, and sons Camden (eight) and Phoenix (four).

“I didn’t know, but I guess we have island babies. They love Hawaii and I don’t think they want to leave,” she captioned a back-to-school photo of the kiddos.

Lachey gushed about the “pretty incredible” island to Cincinnati WRKC TV.

“Beyond the actual beautiful scenery, the people, and the food and the culture and the love … (all that) they embody. I think what surprised me the most, when Nick and the kids came out there – we all live there now – they just fit right in,” she said.

Vanessa Lachey could relate to her NCIS: Hawai’i character. Tennant is also a working mom, but is a single mother to two teenagers.

“When I got the job I completely broke down,” Vanessa said. “Because I said to myself, I can do this, I am her, I believe in her, I know what she stands for. I felt like this is me.”

In a separate interview with Kelly Ripa, she spoke about how her new role was extremely unexpected and completely changed her life.

“I heard about NCIS: Hawai’i and booked the job by mid-April. I was surprised and my career took a complete left turn,” Lachey shared. “But I’m so glad things went the way they did. Now here we are and I’m living in Hawaii.”
