NCIS: Hawai’i has introduced a new, quirky bomb expert in the second episode. “Boom Boom” is called in after the latest case involves World War II-era explosives. Here’s where you may have seen Boom Boom before. Boom Boom is tasked with looking at the wartime explosives on an armored truck.
Boom Boom, also known as Norman Gates, is played by actor Sharif Atkins. The 46-year-old actor from Pittsburgh has featured in tons of major films and shows. You may recognize him for his work on ER, Guardians of The Galaxy, The Open House, or the 4400. According to his IMDB page, he actually starred in his own series called Hawai’i long before coming on NCIS: Hawai’i.
While the NCIS Peal Harbor team won’t need a bomb expert every episode, there’s certainly room for Atkins to make a return in the upcoming episodes if needed. The show has a great recurring cast as well.
NCIS: Hawai’i stars Vanessa Lachey as Jane Tennant. She plays the first-ever female lead in the franchise, and the show is remaining unique in other ways as well. Many fans have been pleasantly surprised with the show so far, and if you want more fun guest actors like Gates, you can stay tuned for more episodes.
One ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Actor is Honored to Be on The Show
Whether it’s being in a guest role or starring on an NCIS franchise series, being on a franchise like NCIS is a pretty big deal. Vanessa Lachey, for one, is incredibly grateful. Jane Tennant actress Vanessa Lachey loves her role as Jane Tennant so much that she describes being on the show as an “honor.”
It’s an honor to play her,” the NCIS: Hawai’i actress said in an interview with CBS’ Matt Weiss. “There are females in NCIS out there so I love this, you know starting to make it the norm.”
It goes beyond the fact that Vanessa Lachey’s role is historic for the series. She just loves Jane Tennant in general. While she claims there are “so many things” that she loves about Tennant, she also has some specifics in mind.
For instance, Lachey loves that Tennant “doesn’t take no for an answer” and has totally “fallen in love” with the character. On top of all of it? She manages to be a good mom.
“She’s a great mom too,” the NCIS: Hawai’i actress said. “She always, always, has her kids in the front of her mind even when she’s at work.”
Lachey was incredibly excited when she landed the job last April and felt that taking it was right for her. The actress took her whole family and moved to Hawai’i for the show and drastically changed the course of her life. This is Lachey’s first major role in a show like this, and it looks like she’s adjusting to being the lead on an NCIS franchise show just fine.
