Monday saw the newest “NCIS” spin-off “NCIS: Hawai’i” premiere its second episode. So far, the show has received incredible viewership ratings. In just its first two episodes, the premiere snagged an impressive 6.33 million viewers. This week saw a lesser, yet still impressive total audience of 5.4 million. Now, we get further into character plots and subplots in “NCIS: Hawai’i.”

As such, Special Agent Jane Tennant actress Vanessa Lachey is proud to serve as a role model as the “NCIS” franchise‘s first-ever female lead.

During a video interview with Local12, Lachey shared her reactions to the impact which receiving the role of Jane Tennant on “NCIS: Hawai’i” initially had on her. In response, Lachey stated, overall, the call had a lot of impact on her.

She said, “Not just that I got [the part] and wanted it so bad, but what it means.” For her, she stated, “I’m honored to be the first female Special Agent In Charge for the ‘NCIS’ franchise.” As the third spin-off of “NCIS,” Lachey’s character Jane Tennant has a lot to compete with following in “NCIS” icon Special Agent Gibbs’ shoes.

Nevertheless, Lachey highlighted, “There are women agents but, obviously, they’ve never had one represented on television.” Therefore, “the fact that [Lachey] get[s] to be that person is incredible.” The actress highlighted the further significance of her role on the show when it comes to young girls but, more inclusively, young people. She wants children to know that, just like Agent Tennant, “They can be just as ‘kick-butt’ as [her] and do it all.”

Vanessa Lachey ‘Blown Away’ by ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Viewers

As I mentioned before, “NCIS: Hawai’i” just concluded its second brand new episode earlier this week, tallying some impressive achievements. In response, Lachey shared her excitement at the continued love and support “NCIS” fans have expressed for the show. The actress recently shared she feels “blown away” by viewers’ positive reactions to the new spin-off.

In an Instagram post celebrating “NCIS: Hawai’i” achievements so far, Lachey wrote, “I’m BLOWN AWAY!!!” ironically holding up a wind-demolished umbrella and boasting an enthusiastic smile. “Thank YOU for making @ncishawaiicbs #1 in our time slot two weeks in a row! And the highest watched new series!!! Mahalo from my entire team!”

Fans celebrated the win alongside Lachey in the comments. “Loved the show, you and your team are great,” wrote one follower. Others excitedly wrote, “Love the show!! You[‘re] awesome!!” A Texas “NCIS: Hawai’i” fan proudly commented, “From Texas, EXCELLENT SHOW.”

Unfortunately, I myself have not had the opportunity to catch Special Agent Jane Tennant in action. Now, it definitely appears I need to hop on the “NCIS: Hawai’i” train. After all, it will be interesting to see whether next week’s new episode receives as much viewership as the show’s first two weeks.
