Vanessa Lachey Reveals How Her Military BRAT Roots Were Actually Helpful During ’NCIS: Hawai’i’ Shooting

While chatting with TV Insider last month, Lachey reveals how she used her military BRAT roots while filming NCIS: Hawai’i. “What people don’t know If that the acronym BRAT stands for Born Raised and Trained. I was born in an Air Force base in the Philippines and my dad was almost 30 years in the Air Force.”

Lachey also stated that while the military BRAT aspects were helpful for her, there’s still a layer of being in the military that not everyone can learn. “I understand because I firsthand lived with sacrifices that my father made for us and for the country. It definitely runs in my blood.”

In regards to her character, Lachey goes on to share that the character does everything besides sitting behind a desk. “She’s out there and yes she asks her team to help out. She’s [all about] love of country and love of family. So I love that I get to bring that to the screen for everyone to watch.”
