NCIS: Hawai’i is officially a series!

The cast of the show including lead Vanessa Lachey discovered the big news. The actors shared a video announcement revealing that the show has been picked up for a full season. This marks the fourth NCIS series in the franchise following the original, Los Angeles, and New Orleans.

Lachey, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Tori Anderson, Noah Mills, Alex Tarrant, and Jason Antoon are the core actors in the series. They couldn’t be happier with the news that they will continue to work together. They shot the clip in Tennant’s car while taking a break from filming. They thanked the fans for their support of NCIS: Hawai’i along with their co-workers.

That’s not the only good news. CBS also announced the season pick up of FBI: International.

“These two terrific new dramas are off to a tremendous start,” Kelly Kahl, CBS Entertainment told Variety. “They have significantly strengthened and improved our lineup on their respective nights and are generating huge increases on our streaming platforms as well. We applaud the talented producers, writers and casts on their compelling storytelling and performances, which are clearly resonating with viewers.”

According to Nielsen, NCIS: Hawai’i average 9.3 million viewers and won the Monday timeslot. Meanwhile, FBI: International had 8.79 million average viewers during its first two episodes.

“Mahalo to YOU,” Lachey tweeted. “Feeling so grateful! Thank You for making us #1 three weeks in a row at 10 PM and for watching it again all week! I Love You guys and can’t wait to take you on the rest of the @NCISHawaiiCBS journey this season.”

Behind the Dynamics of ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’

NCIS: Hawai’i composer Tree Adams spoke with Show Snob to discuss the character dynamics on the show. This NCIS series is different from all of the others in numerous ways. It is set on an island with a rich culture that the creators had to respect. This also marks the first time that a female lead in charge was cast. Adams said that it was exciting to help make history with Jane Tennant.

“She has a tough side to her, she’s a badass,” she began. “Which is kind of fun in some of these action sequences, like the first episode when she jumps off a cliff.”

“There are all these heroic things she’s capable of,” she added. “But she’s also a single mom, and when you see her at home, there is a warmer side, so we had some warmer and charming themes for her that bring you in.”

As for Ernie being the tech guru, he has a completely different persona. They created him to “accompany his flavor.” Adams describes him as quirky and fun with his intelligence being his superpower.

Adams concluded by teasing a relationship to come. “There is a bit of a romantic thing brewing Tennant and Milius,” he admitted. “They’re sort of rivals at first, but I don’t know where that is going to go. It’s fun to tease those out.”
