Are you a fan of the NCIS shows and all of their spinoffs? Then you will be happy to hear that there is a real chance for a crossover between NCIS: New Orleans and the newest show in the franchise, NCIS: Hawai’i.
That’s right, a crossover between NCIS: New Orleans — which just wrapped up its seventh and final season — and the new NCIS: Hawai’i is looking like a very real possibility. The latter of the two shows is set to officially premiere next month, on September 20, 2021. The former, meanwhile, just came to an end on Monday night. But that hasn’t stopped the rumors of a crossover from heating up.
NCIS: Hawai’i, of course, is the third spin-off to spawn from the original NCIS. This version of the show will once again follow a fictional team of agents in the Naval Criminal Investigative Service who work out of the Pearl Harbor Field Office. Leading the new team is Special Agent Jane Tennant, who will be played by actress Vanessa Lachey. In a monumental first for the successful franchise, Vanessa Lachey will be the first-ever leading female agent.
So what leads us to believe that a crossover could really be in the works at CBS? Well, a couple of different things. CBS announced earlier in the year that NCIS: Hawai’i was being produced. And not long after they made that announcement, they gave fans the bad news — NCIS: New Orleans would be coming to an end after season seven. It was certainly bad news to us fans, but a decision we could see coming. NCIS NOLA consistently ranked lower in terms of viewers when compared to NCIS and NCIS: LA.
‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Producers Come from ‘NCIS: New Orleans’
One of the key reasons we think there could be a crossover between the two popular NCIS spinoffs comes from looking at the cast and crew. Not only that but two of the producers from NCIS: New Orleans, Jan Nash and Christopher Silber, will be working on the newest series.
It’s that connection that so many people believe we will eventually see some characters from NCIS: NOLA make a return for a crossover episode. Again, none of this has been confirmed. It’s all speculation at this point, but the stars do seem to line up.
Before NCIS: New Orleans got the ax, Nash and Silber had plans for season eight of the show. They told TV Line as much in a recent interview. And when asked about a possible crossover between the two shows, Silber said, “Never say never.”
“I’ll be a hundred percent honest with you,” Silber said. “We are happy for all crossovers. It’s fun.”
