How long has NCIS star Mark Harmon been married to Pam Dawber?

The two met at a party in Hollywood in the early 80s. At the time, Dawber just finished Mork & Mindy while Harmon was crowned People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive. They later wed on March 21, 1987 at Harvard-Westlake’s chapel in California.

“There were helicopters hovering over her parents’ house. People were camped out on their front lawn. Granted, we’re not talking Springsteen here, but if we choose a big church, everyone will find out about it. All of a sudden we’ll have Entertainment Tonight out there with microphones,” Dawber told People of their choice to have an intimate ceremony.

Currently, they have been married for 34 years and going strong.

At the beginning of their relationship, they kept things extremely private. “We’re not trying to keep something secret, but if you don’t want it totally exploited by the press, you have to,” Dawber told the outlet.

The NCIS lead later explained how they still want to keep their personal life private.

“It’s not even a choice,” Mark said of remaining under the radar with his wife. “It’s who we are. We stay home. A lot. And I’m not a Twitter guy or a Facebook guy,” he told TV Insider.

The pair had two kids together — Sean Thomas Harmon and Ty Christian Harmon.

Pam Dawber’s Time on ‘NCIS’

Pam Dawber was approached by NCIS a few times to guest star on the show. She turned down every one of them until Marcie Warren. She hadn’t acted in a long time, as she was focusing on her family. This also marked the first time that the couple acted alongside one another.

“Either I just didn’t want to do it or I didn’t appreciate what it was they wanted me to do,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “Or it was near Christmas and it was like, ‘I can’t do this. I’ve got my parents coming into town.’ I just haven’t been interested in, you know, chasing the business. At this age, that’s what you do. You’d have to really want it.”

Once Mark Harmon saw the script and character description for the investigative journalist, he knew his wife would be the perfect fit. She had one dealbreaker to sign on for the NCIS role.

“I talked to the writers and the producers before I signed on and said, ‘If this is a romantic interest, I’m not interested.’ They said not at all, that’s not where we’re going with this,” she said.
