NCIS actor Joe Spano plays Agent Fornell on the series. He isn’t a regular but he’s a crucial part of the show. NCIS showrunner Steven D. Binder recently confirmed that Spano will reprise his role in season 19.

Considering the actor has featured in every season but one, it wasn’t a total shock. However, considering how many cast members have left recently, fans expressed gratitude for the news.

According to his IMDB page, Spano has been in 54 total episodes of the series. Last season, Spano had one of the most important roles in the season plot-wise. In one episode, Agent Fornell’s daughter tragically passed away, sending shockwaves of grief throughout the squad.

Spano is known for his work on Hill Street Blues, Warlock Moon, Hollywoodland, and Fracture. On top of Spano making a return to NCIS, two other actors are joining the series in major recurring roles. The additional roles come after Emily Wickersham’s departure and Mark Harmon’s stepping back. Harmon will feature in a handful of episodes.

Katrina Law and Gary Cole to Join ‘NCIS’ For Season 19

Katrina Law will play Special Agent Jessica Knight, who was a key character in the final episodes of season 18. According to reports, Knight is going to be an incredibly dedicated agent working with the team, who isn’t afraid to bend the rules to protect those she cares about. Fans only got to see a bit of her personality in season 18.

According to her character description, Knight was “raised by a single mother and had to fight for everything in life. Fiercely tenacious and with a wry sense of humor, Jessica is married to a stay-at-home dad who is raising their infant son.”

Many believed Gary Cole’s role could be a replacement for Gibbs, but not much is truly known, and Deadline cautioned that it doesn’t look like Cole is coming in simply to replace Harmon. Cole is known for his work on The Good Wife, Office Space, and Midnight Caller. He’ll play Special Agent Alden Park, but no other details have been released about his character.

Earlier this year, Steven D Binder told Deadline that the new season is shaping up well with these two actors joining the cast.

“We haven’t shot a single frame quite yet, but with the addition of Gary Cole and Katrina Law to the cast, this is already shaping up to be one of the best seasons yet,” he said.

You won’t have to wait too long to catch Joe Spano along with the two new actors. NCIS season 19 premieres on Monday, September 20th on CBS. With the addition of two new cast members and the exit of a series regular, Joe Spano will hopefully provide another familiar face to a season facing lots of change.
