Daniela Ruah, one of the stars of NCIS: Los Angeles, finally got to see her kids after a tough stretch on location, working without them.
She posted a sweet photo with her daughter, Sierra, on her Instagram, Monday. She captioned it “After 3 weeks of work in Portugal, daddy finally arrived with the cubs.”
Daniela Ruah, who is Kensi Blye on NCIS: LA, is big-time busy these days juggling work and motherhood. She’s the mother of River and Sierra. She has a full-time job on NCIS: LA. And she’s also started directing. That’s why she’s far away from home this summer.
Ruah is directing the movie Os Vivos, o Morto e o Peixe Frito in Torres Vedras, Portugal. Filming started May 31. Translated, the movie title is The Living, the Dead and the Fried Fish. It’s her second time directing, but this assignment is substantially bigger. She also directed an episode of NCIS: LA called Russia, Russia, Russia earlier this year.
Daniela Ruah Spent A Chunk Of Her Life In Portugal
Daniela Ruah is Portuguese, so she’s basically at home filming her movie. The actress was born in Boston, but both her parents are from Portugal. The family moved there when Daniela was five. She attended school in the country through high school. And her first big acting break was appearing in Jardins Proibidos, a Portuguese soap opera. That translates to “Forbidden Gardens” in English.
She often goes back for leisure and to work. “My parents were born and raised in Lisbon,” Ruah told CBS Watch magazine. “But I grew up just outside the city in a town called Cascais, which is right on the water and beautiful. … and it’s a perfect place to visit if you’re a tourist. The Portuguese people are very kind.”
Daniela Ruah and her family live in Los Angeles. Obviously, NCIS: LA plays a significant role in their lives. Her husband works on the show, too. He’s the older brother of Eric Christian Olsen, who plays Marty Deeks, and is also Eric’s stunt double. Coincidentally, Deeks is Ruah’s husband on the show. And Eric Olsen has young children in his family. So it’s a true family affair, on screen and off.
Daniela Ruah also spends quality time with her children. And she likes to post photos of the kids on Instagram. In one snap, the kids were working on their school work.
“Sometimes it feels like the kids aren’t listening,” Daniela Ruah wrote. “But then I see this and I realize the concept of supporting each other is totally sinking in. Breakfast flash card practice in full force.”
