The chemistry between the cast members of NCIS: Los Angeles is undeniable. And that’s because, in real life, the actors are like “a family.”
During a 2018 interview with former NCIS: Los Angeles star Andrea Bordeaux, Leora Heilbronn of Brieftake said she couldn’t help but notice that the actors on the series seem so “in-sync.” So she wanted to know about the stars’ relationships offscreen.
And Andrea shared that “the cast really is a family and such a tight-knit group of people,” and working with them has been an amazing experience.
“When we’re on set and working, it’s such a great vibe and there’s such great energy,” she told Heilbronn. “Everybody brings lots of humor and life, really.”
And the original stars of the show truly bring everything together.
“The veteran cast members, the ones that have been there since day one, such as Todd [LL Cool J] and Chris [O’Donnell] and Eric [Christian Olsen] and Dani [Ruah] and Barrett [Foa] and Linda [Hunt], they are always on their game.”
But most importantly each NCIS: Los Angeles star takes their job seriously. And when they go to work each morning, they “show up prepared,” and ready to go.
“It’s just such a great energy on set,” she added. “You can tell that, even after nine years of doing this, they still really love their jobs. It made me love my job, seeing how much they love theirs.”
‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Star Chris O’Donnell Says He and LL Cool J are Like Brothers
Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J have been series regulars on NCIS: Los Angeles since the very start. And while they started out as co-workers, their relationship has grown. These days the two are more like brothers.
While chatting with ET, O’Donnell mentioned that his character, Cal, and LL’s Sam are like family members on the show. And while the two have immense respect for each other, they still get on each other’s nerves. And O’Donnell and LL have a similar relationship offscreen.
“You know, the same way you would pick on your sibling and drive each other crazy, I mean, it’s similar to the relationship Todd and I, LL and I, have in real life,” he shared. “I mean, he’s someone I have great respect for, and there’s a mutual admiration. But we also love to, you know, just torture each other…and constantly, uh you know, drive each other crazy.”
O’Donnell also added that he and LL really like to antagonize each other when they have breaks between filming, which is also a very sibling thing to do.
“When you spend that much time together on set, you know you tend to get bored once in a while,” he continued. “And all that’s left is to just pick on each other. It’s only so long you can sit and stare at you know TikTok and Instagram on your phone.”
