‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Alum Renée Felice Smith Shares Sweet Family Photo from Vacation

Former NCIS: Los Angeles star Renée Felice Smith just shared an adorable photo of her family. The actress left the series after its most recent season.

Smith simply captioned the photo of herself spending time with family with three heart emojis. Her sister, Monica is in the Bowie shirt. Monica recently choreographed videos for pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour album.

Renée has had an exciting project of her own. She recently published a children’s book called Hugo and The Impossible Thing. It’s based on her dog’s struggle with cancer and has been met with rave reviews.

How the ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Star Truly Felt About Leaving

But just because she has jumped into new ventures, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t miss her NCIS: Los Angeles castmates.

“It’s truly difficult when you work with people you love who have become your family, who become so much more than your co-workers. (That’s) a lot like me and our fabulous crew at NCIS Los Angeles,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I do commend Nell for stepping into her power and really making a decision to serve herself rather than people-please and to serve others. It’s quite commendable.”

She’s also got more in store than a book. She’s exercising her full creative potential as a writer, director, and actress with an upcoming indie film.

“I think that I’ve been ready for my next chapter for a while now, in whatever form it will take. But it’s surely to be centered around storytelling,” she explained. “I hesitate to be part of the “cliché actress” calling herself a storyteller, but I really am one. I’m a writer. I’m a director. We are developing television currently. We have another indie in the works. I want to tell compelling stories, poignant stories that offer an escape and chance of reflection for the viewer, so that’s where my focus is.”

Season 12 found Nell battling a decision between taking over Hetty’s job and staying with the team or leaving with Eric to Tokyo. Ultimately, Nell decided to forge her own path just like Felice Smith did.

NCIS: Los Angeles will return for its thirteenth season this fall on CBS. Actress Linda Hunt will return to the cast to play the much-loved Hetty. Gerald McRaney, who plays the hilarious Horace Killbride, will become a full-time member of the cast.

NCIS: Los Angeles is a part of a franchise with two other active series. NCIS and the brand new NCIS: Hawai’i will also air around the same time on CBS. The show will keep its Sunday night spot while the other two shows will air back to back on Mondays.
