If you are a fan of NCIS: Los Angeles and star actress Daniela Ruah, you need to check out episode 11 of season 12. Ruah, a Portuguese-American, officially made her directing debut.

If you are a fan of NCIS: Los Angeles like us, then you know and love Daniela Ruah. She plays Special Agent Kensi Blye on the popular military crime show. She has been there since the very beginning, ever since the series first premiered back in September of 2009.

But now, 12 years later, Ruah is doing more than just acting on the show. She has made her way to the director’s chair. It’s her first time ever serving in a director’s role, but it is a dream she has always held close to her. She explained that directors Yangzom Brauen and Tawnia McKiernan have been close mentors of hers while she is learning the ropes of being a director.

“I feel really excited and I’m loving it,” said Ruah per The Herald News. “it’s a passion I’ve had for a long time, but I never gave it a try out of fear.”

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Star Never Tried Directing ‘Out of Fear’

It’s hard to believe that Daniela Ruah never tried her hand at directing. But up until now, that has been the case. The 37-year-old has been in the business for more than two decades, having made her acting debut at 16. But despite having a lot of experience and beauty for spades, the NCIS: Los Angeles star still felt that as a woman, she would have a hard time as a director. But people in the industry are more open-minded today than they were perhaps in years past.

“There was a lot of the image of a white man behind the cameras and leading an entire team, and today we have a very different view,” she explained further. “We have a series of films — both commercial and independent — that are being made, produced, and written by women or people of different backgrounds. And I think that brings a lot of richness.”

Filming for the 11th episode of season 12 of NCIS: Los Angeles wrapped back in January. It took place over seven days in the Los Angeles area. And it will most certainly have a little bit more intrigue now that we know Ruah is helping direct it.

So, what can we expect from the star actress going forward? Will she stick to her job as a leading actress? Or will Daniela Ruah continue to explore her creative side as a director? As it currently stands, no one really knows. But with more than 20 years of experience acting, this move might be a sign that she is ready to transition into a new role.
