NCIS: Los Angeles actress Medalion Rahimi is known for her work playing Special Agent Fatima Namazi on the hit NCIS spinoff. In a recent interview, she discussed what made her decide to be an actress and how she got her start.

Rahimi grew up in Los Angeles, so she was surrounded by opportunities to explore acting. That’s what initially lead her down that path. But it took her a while before she decided that’s what she wanted to do.

“Growing up in Los Angeles you are definitely surrounded by the film industry in general. But I always really loved theatre growing up. I did all the school plays. I never really considered it seriously as a career until I was on my own,” she told Film Forums.

She really got into auditioning once she got out of college.

“But I did go to college,” the actress continued. “I went to UCLA theatre school, and minored in English, just because my parents were like, ‘Okay, if you want to try acting, that’s fine. But you have to have a degree. We’re not going to let you not go to college’. So I was like, ‘Okay’. And I went to the school of their choice, UCLA, which is a great school.”

Once she finished school, the NCIS: Los Angeles actress threw herself into the entertainment industry.

“And then once I finished school, I started auditioning, finding breakdowns online, on casting websites, and just threw myself into whatever I could find,” she said.

Eventually, Rahimi landed the role of Fatima on NCIS: Los Angeles. Now, she’s she plays a critical character an the team. Fatima recently made some major moves, going undercover and helping the team bring down a major criminal alongside Kensi Blye, played by Daniela Ruah.

Fatima is one of the Newer Full Time Characters on ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’

Some of the characters on NCIS: Los Angeles like Sam Hannah, Deeks, and Callen have been on since the start. But characters like Fatima and Roundtree are both newer to the scene. According to Rahimi, this year, we’re going to get to know both of the newer characters more as season 13 continues.

In a recent teaser posted by CBS, Rahimi says that the two start to get into the more difficult parts of the job, and that we’re going to take a look at what they’d been through before joining the team. It’ll give Rahimi more of a chance to show off her acting chops, and give the audience more information about our two new guys.
