Kensi and Deeks from NCIS: Los Angeles are trying to have children, but the writers have a major concern about going through with it. The couple has been trying to have kids all season, with little luck. Many fans think they’ll try alternatives like adoption next year, but writers warn that it may not be that easy.
NCIS: Los Angeles is heading into its 13th season. Even with the little information we have on season 13, it looks like it’s going to be awesome. With a return to the normal season size, Hetty coming back into the mix, and admiral Killbride getting a full-time spot, season 13 should have a lot of what fans missed in season 12.
But what’s exactly in store for the beloved couple Kensi and Deeks? Well, they want to have kids, but the NCIS: Los Angeles characters both have incredibly dangerous jobs.
“That’s been a big dilemma for us as writers because you don’t want to do something that makes your characters look negligent,” showrunner R. Scott Gemmill told TV Line.
“Would it be a wise decision to have a child when both of you are putting your lives in jeopardy every day? That’s a legitimate concern for the two of them and something that we will have to explore as we move forward. Whether Kensi is able to get pregnant or whether it’s going to be an adoption, that’s a tricky one because you want them to be happy, but you also don’t want them to look irresponsible.”
Not only do the two have day to day stressors of their dangerous jobs, but now there’s a killer on the loose looking for revenge.
Could Kensi and Deeks’ Adoption Plans Be Thwarted By One Major ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Antagonist?
It’s no secret that Kensi and Deeks may take adoption more seriously next season, but they have one major problem. David Kessler, whose out of prison on a presidential pardon, is out for revenge. The character sent a postcard clearly addressed to Kensi, and his obsession with her likely won’t wane any time soon.
Fans speculate that David Kessler could throw a wrench in Kensi and Deeks’ adoption plans. Whether it’s making them feel too unsafe to have a child, having their information hacked, or causing mayhem in a way fans haven’t even thought of yet, Kessler may be a big problem for the couple.
For now, however, fans will have to wait. NCIS: Los Angeles just went on hiatus, with a season 12 finale that welcomed Hetty back into the mix but said goodbye to Eric Beale and Nell Jones. NCIS: Los Angeles will return this fall along with two other series in the franchise: flagship NCIS starring Mark Harmon and the brand new NCIS: Hawai’i starring Vanessa Lachey.
