NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Season 13 opener ratings have arrived!

According to TV Line, the series came in with a .6 and 5.9 million viewers. It matched its previous averages, similar to SEAL Team.

Numerous changes happened during the Season 13 premiere. For starters, we have Hetty (Linda Hunt) back full-time. She was mostly doing virtual appearances last season due to the pandemic. Unfortunately, we saw Nell Jones (Renee Felice Smith) and Eric Beale (Barrett Foa) depart the show. The characters jetted off to Japan to get his tech company off of the ground.

Gerald McRaney, who plays Retired Navy Admiral Hollace Kilbride, has been promoted to a series regular.

That’s not all, NCIS: Los Angeles also updated its theme song. Though it is a slight change, listeners noticed that the pitch has been increased and a slight pause before the crescendo.

The Season 13 premiere was dedicated to their set designer Michelle Poulik. A title card aired at the end of the show to honor the woman in charge of their set for the last twelve years.

“In loving memory of Michele Poulik, whose smile, presence, and laughter lit up every day,” the screen read.

She passed away from cancer on August 2, 2021. This meant that she passed away after Season 12 and before Season 13 premiered.

Set Decorators published an obituary for the Emmy-nominated set decorator.

“Michele ended her long battle with cancer surrounded by Janet (her sister), friends, and her beloved dogs, Daisy and LuLa,” the post reads.

Poulik was a world traveler. After being born in Toronto, Canada, she was raised in Detroit, Michigan. Her family moved to Madrid, Spain where she attended high school. She then returned to the United States to get into set design and the entertainment industry.

Besides NCIS: Los Angeles, Poulik worked on Stargate, Darkman, and Hard Target.

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Family Expansion

NCIS: Los Angeles fans know that Kensi (Daniela Ruah) has fertility problems. She said in an interview that her character and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) “just want a little kid to love.”

The couple spoke about expanding their family during the Season 13 premiere. Fans couldn’t get enough of the storyline. The couple are looking at adoption as an option, but are worried about the criticism they could face. They are considering adopting from an Asian country.

“Kensi and Deeks ticked the box [on the adoption application] that race wasn’t an issue, but didn’t think what that might entail,” Ruah added. Despite the difference in race, they want their child to “relate to their natural-born culture and fit in.”

Ruah and Olsen will be getting behind the camera this season. Ruah is directing a future episode while Olsen is writing one. Olsen previously wrote the Season 11, episode 10, “Mother.” But this will mark Ruah’s first time behind the camera directing.
