NCIS: Los Angeles star Daniela Ruah stands with the crew of the show and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees in a new Instagram post. The star, who plays Kensi Blye on the show, wanted to take a moment to recognize the incredibly difficult work of crews as well as acknowledge how tough the entertainment industry can be.
“When I hashtag the words “Best crew in Hollywood” I truly mean what I say. These are the women and men who make the show tick, they are the heartbeat. In the TV/movie/streaming industry, many crew members work insane hours, are underpaid, and only get an 8-hour turnaround. It means that once you clock out, you have 8 hours to be back the next day,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
Ruah Expresses Her Support For Better Working Conditions
Considering you’re supposed to have around eight hours of sleep each night, the IATSE notes that having those 8 hours on and 8 hours off doesn’t give people much time to do anything between shifts. The NCIS: Los Angeles star agrees.
“That’s not enough rest time, that’s not enough to see your family, that’s not enough to stay healthy. Each production is a giant domino set: you knock one down and the rest soon fall behind. Every crew member on any production should be treated with fairness and respect which is why I am so proud of how @ncisla is run.”
While she doesn’t specify how NCIS: Los Angeles is run, it looks like they’re firmly against those conditions. Ruah ended the caption by saying she stood with IATSE and their mission to support crews.
Many people who work crew jobs or are trying to get started in the entertainment industry thanked Ruah in the comments. Ruah is currently working on the set of NCIS: Los Angeles as they film season 13.
‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Will Have A Key Cast Member Returning to the Show
The NCIS: Los Angeles crew and cast have been hard at work for season 13. The season is already off to an exciting start thanks to the return of Hetty actress Linda Hunt. She couldn’t be on season 12 due to COVID-19 related safety concerns, but she’s finally back. Apparently Hetty is going to have plenty of moments of contention between herself and Admiral Kilbride played by Gerald McRaney. She’s also going to play a key role in an upcoming storyline about Callen’s past.
Ruah will also play an important role this season. Kensi Blye will have to deal with both personal struggles and professional struggles. Kensi’s trying to get pregnant but is also being hunted down by a killer who’s been freed by a presidential pardon.
You can catch all the action when NCIS: Los Angeles returns on Sunday, October 10th at 9/8 Central.
