‘NCIS: Los Angeles’: What Tattoo Does Daniela Ruah Cover Up for Role of Kensi Blye?

Many tattooed actors have to go through the tedious process of covering them up for their roles. Daniela Ruah of NCIS: Los Angeles actually has a tattoo that you don’t see on Special Agent Kensi Blye. Thankfully, it’s in a spot that’s usually covered by clothes: her back.

Still, Ruah has had to cover up the tattoo a few times for the show, especially when wearing backless outfits. It’s hard to see exactly what the tattoo is of, however. Some think it may be of mountains and a river, but it really is hard to make out.

We also know that she got the tattoo a few years ago, well into her time on NCIS: Los Angeles.

“After much planning, searching, and thinking, I finally did it. Thank you @davesantostattoo e @domus_tattoo_art ! I’m super happy 🙂 #tattoo AND for those asking I’m going to let it heal before I decide to post anything else about it… ” she wrote in the 2018 Instagram post.

Daniela Ruah Plays Special Agent Kensi Blye

Ruah has become a fan-favorite with her role as Kensi Blye. With a tragic and difficult past and a fighting spirit, Kensi is truly a staple of NCIS: Los Angeles. Blye is also married to Marty Deeks, played by Eric Christian Olsen.

The two share a lot of emotionally charged scenes together, which Eric Olsen has said he finds difficult because they are so high stakes. Yet you wouldn’t notice he struggles with them at all.

The two have a multitude of dynamic and well-acted scenes together. In fact, their work together is so unique that the camera crew often decides to film them in a special way for higher-stakes scenes.

The ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Stars are Real Life In-Laws

Oddly enough, Daniela Ruah and Eric Christian Olsen play a married couple on NCIS: Los Angeles, but are actually in-laws in real life. Ruah married Eric Olsen’s brother, making Eric her brother-in-law. The two are professional actors, but still, Ruah’s admitted kissing Eric Olsen on the show can feel pretty weird.

Luckily, her husband Dave and Eric’s wife are also in the entertainment industry and understand that what they do while acting is simply business.

“[Dave] does stunts on our show along with a bunch of other shows. He gets it; he understands that this is a job,” she explained in an interview on The Queen Latifah Show. Ultimately, the two try and play out the scenes in a way that’s true to their characters, and forget about the rest.

The 13th season of NCIS: Los Angeles will debut on October 10th. Eric Olsen, Daniela Ruah, and the rest of the remaining cast will head back to set any day now to begin filming.
